I, like Stevens, LOVE to drink...........................

I drink a lot.

At least a bottle of wine everynight and beers on the weekend.

But, i punish myself for it. I go to gym at least 3 times a week and run 5-10kms on weekends.

I eat healthy(ish):- only cook with fresh ingrediants and never eat fast-food.

I do this because it suits my lifestyle. I stay in shape and healthy.

BUT - does this mean i could easilly play AFL football? Good God No!

It's not the 70's anymore - it's an elite game professional game.

Stevens is a (So-Called) elite midfielder who is required to run up to 18km in the space of 2 hours. It's what we drafted him for - and it's what we pay him for.

It's unprofessional to see him constantly doing this. And if he doesn't want to play then fine with me,....................... we're a much better team without him.

I can't remember which one it was but one of the footy shows had a clip from a brisbane v port game years ago when roger james kicked that goal with seconds left....

some part during the clip showed a very SKINNY Nick Stevens running around collecting kicks, he was about half the size he is now

I dont think he has a metabolic disorder... it has to be lack of discipline?

However, I dont think he automatically needs to be delisted, give him a chance to get his act together - Nick still has the ability to be a dangerous weapon.

..to the more bio-minded.. ..is it a weight/fitness issue or an ageing and post injury issue or what, but he seems slower these days too.. ..am really dissappointed that he's letting frustration get the better of him.. ..and by all reports isn't doing what's required.. ..not leading by example as a VC should..

He'd have a lot of pain management issues with the neck, but beyond that I'm not familiar with his situation. He's had finger/ankle/knee issues over the journey, but what footy player hasn't?

He's still capable of doing what's required, just at the moment, for whatever reason, he's not.

I think it's pretty insulting that our Vice Captain hasnt been able to keep himself in shape - not that he has a weight problem (if that makes sense). This icould be the highlight of the rest of his career, and he's out of shape? A walk up start for the 22 and cant manage it, it's really disappointing and deflating to know one of your leaders just can't cut it.

Fully support the decision to keep him out.

Obviously a few posters don't know how hard it is for some people to keep their weight under control

Just run few laps stay off the KFC she'll be right - How unprofessional can you be

So people regardless have trouble with weight an it is not a matter of what they eat or how hard they try

Bollocks.

People that can't keep weight off have that problem because they don't exercise enough, eat crap, drink high calorie beverages or all of the above.

Professional athletes who do the professional thing don't get fat through thinking about it

Blunt, but spot on, SB, I sympathise with where you are, and you all know there is a but coming, BUT, he has access to nutrionists, dieticians and top phys trainers, no excuse but tardiness. AND the MC should have noticed him getting porkier.

As for SB, I cant think what the problem is with you, but I hope you get it sorted out, cos that regime should yield results. Let me know how ou go kid.
