So amusing arnt you verbs.
I could see as a supporter that Collingwoods game plan was to have Shaw and Maxwell loose in defense.
We kick it to Fev because thats what we do. 3 on 1. Thats smart.Maxwell or Shaw get it then either
Thomas
Swann
Didak
Lockyer
O'Bree
Beames
gut run out wide to receive the ball with no pressure
They are then allowed to run to about 60m from goal because we want to flood their forward 50.
Collingwood had an AFL record 73 bounces of the ball to 14 from us.
Thats pissweak from the players bar Simpson and Bower and stupid from our coaching staff

And Thomas and Didak are still soft and overrated. The pies wont trouble the saints and cats.
We made them look like champions

But hey as Sticks said
"we are Carlton .@#$%&! the rest"

So we will be fine

verbs, if everybody hadnt have set their sites high throughout history we would be eating raw meat and the wheel would be an uncomfortable square.....

you might like being like that but i KNOW the club had higher ambitions than theyre publicly stating right now.

Which means they seem to be failing touching what they once were aiming at.

Thats a failure of sorts.

On the contrary Synbad none of those things happened overnight. I would expect if you were around when the wheel was turned into a circle from a square you'd be in the background wondering why it didn't have a v8 engine attached.

Depends!

If everybody else had a v8 so would i want one.
If everybody else can kick out.. so should we...

But first i must have an ambition to be capable of kicking out properly... and having the brains to orchestrate something which is not going to be on the inventors show....on abc

If we accept 8th position we're better than Richmond x 1.

I won't be truly happy until we've held the cup aloft and we play in at least another GF plus Prelims, plus flogging sides we should flog.

I don't expect a flag every year, but I do expect to have the very best coaches and staff available to give us the best chance each and every year. If we get stuck in the old 'well we're better than we used to be' we actually have gone backwards. The Carlton I knew is dead.

By the way - on arrogance, you can only be arrogant when you're good. Being arrogant when you're average is just plain stupid.

Tell me this...

Why do some people on here say it's not a good idea to appoint a senior assistant to help Ratts with his weaknesses because Ratts would feel threatened if someone tells him what to do or points out his deficiencies...

but...

People at Collingwood got the balls to appoint Nathan Buckley, a man with obvious senior coaching aspirations, to be an assistant to Mick Malthouse, a coach currently performing very well..

If there isn't a overhall of our assistant coaches at the end of the year, and the proper people for the job, not just Carlton people, are brought in, then this group of players will never reach it's full potential.

You watch the knives come out at Colliwood when they go thru a rough patch next year. Their supporters will be screaming to axe Malthouse for Buckley. The appointment of Buckley is pure politics-Eddy didnt want to loose him to anyone-and he didnt want to go anywhere despite all the interview bollocks. If Ratten appointment was all about mates then what is Buckleys?

Giggled when the On the Couch mob asked Riewoldt about rumours the older players were discontented with Lyon. Good Lord-even happens in the best of teams.

actually Collingwood has simply followed a model we tried to set up with Brittain - great model but when the shit hits the fan models are the first to break down. I think they have down well not only giving Bucks 2 years but signing Malthause and effectively stopping any other side from grabbing him.

I would love for us to think about the best structure to place around Ratts - chat with him but really stretch ourselves to think outside of what we currently have.

He's a wily old fox is Malthouse. Fancy, at his age, being given a 5 year contract. 2 to try and win that elusive flag at the filth and 3 to sit back and pull in the moula without the pressures of match day coaching. No doubt it would be on the same as he's getting at the moment.

I'd say he's bent Eddie over and got in before Nafan.

Cause our club is stuck in the eighties. Other than Swann, no one has any idea.

It does seem somewhat odd that in order to select our players we employ a team for 12 months of every year to look over ALL the available candidates and watch each of them perform numerous times over an 18 - 24 month period but when it comes to selecting a coach we can make a decision in a matter of weeks.

Obviously we're not the only club guilty of that but I'm glad it's not the way we pick players.

To be fair, a complete body of a coach's work is not as difficult to obtain, and the biggest component of the process would surely have to be the interviews.

Swann could have had a short-list ready to go, and we actually went through the short-list. No one here knows for certain.

How can you possibly paint that as a negative? He hung around whilst the Club was on its knees. he didnt run for cover like so many.

This thread is full of character assassination, hearsay and panic. It mildly intriguing but quite appalling at the same time. Its like watching the stock market in September last year....

By the way he was also around in some of our boom times. What does that mean? Absolutely nothing at all but whilst your drawing spurious bows between irrelevant points, lets throw it in there.
