Nicely done, BS.

I like Houla - I know he cops it here week after week, but I'd rather him with good skills and an experienced head than some others.

He used to shit me when he'd run backwards every time he got the footy, but that seems to have gone from his game now.

Go for 250 Hoops  .

I really like the start of the article:

Quote:
Houlihan, who declined to be interviewed, has been maligned for all of his 10 years at Carlton.

After all these big "Fab Four" type articles where we almost invite the huge media build-up, it's good to see him not having any of it and just letting his football speak for itself. I've been pretty happy with him, he is certainly playing his role with distinction.

He will have 50 possies and kick 7 goals tonight.

I'm gonna take this as an omen that we will win tonite.
Note the total restraint shown in not commenting on how exceedingly handsome he looks in that photo.

Anyone who has panned Ryan for his on-field efforts this year really has no clue about footy - and if you didn't include him in your votes last week then you have rocks in your head. IMO - Easily our most consistent in the last month of footy we've played and that's 3 wins out of 4...I challenge some of you who don't know Hoops' value to the team role tonight to watch him (and only him) for 5 minutes a quarter. I'm tipping it's he, Carrazzo and Joseph who will make up my votes tonight. Nice article.

After watching the replay again of the game on Saturday, he really was very very good.

Has taken the next step IMO and has blossomed in the past few weeks.

 on changing the way you used to play Hot Lips and into a more well rounded player that you are today.

I hope not. One of our A graders needs to be in the top 3 for us to win.
If Judd and Fev have average games our chances of winning go from 50% to about 20%.

All credit to Houla for changing his game and working on the deficiencies as pointed out to him by the coaching staff.

I still think there are times he doesn't enough off the ball or hit contests hard enough and it really lets him down. Its disappointing when you see some of the efforts he made last week, you know he's capable of it.

He's been at the club for almost 10 years now, it would be nice to see him eradicate those from his game and become a premiership player.

I'm a fan

I'm a fan of players who have the skills for the top level, and make things look easier than they are. That's what I go to the footy to watch...the stuff you don't see on a suburban ground.

I, like alot of people who understand the word, call it CLASS. Houla oozes CLASS.

I reckon he's a hard worker too. I choose to take notice of his hard work.

I've been to games, in the right spot to see what he does and doesn't, only to hear and read the reviews of some who have questioned his input when it fact he was outstanding. Pfffft

I know who they are, not all of them, but he has knockers, about his hair, about his style, about his existence in the Dark Navy Blue jumper, but from the day he crossed the white line in the famous jumper, he has definetely been at the very least a pass.

Stuff the knockers.

Enjoy the Houla display whilst he's still around I say, because I can't stand watching players in the AFL with substandard skills. Substandard skills? Houla is never in the same sentence.

Go get em Houla and lets win it tonight.

Perhaps now that they've written an article about no names, no fuss Houla, the knockers may become star flowers overnight and forget about their bias....and leave their rocks behind...the ones in their head.

Lets WIN tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

..has definately become a more rounded player, and that's nothing against him.. ..footy players in general have really changed over the last half dozen years, and nowadays the majority of players need to be v.well rounded.. ..only top-shelf talent can get away with being one-position player these days..

do not ever play Houla on the wing - ever! I'd rather him in the middle than on the wing!

one hard game and he is the next lethal
unbelievable
ok in patches last night. Ordinary in others
The fact he is closing in on his 200th for the club says how bad this club has been for 10 years
Houlihan would not get a game at a successful club

What took you so long? 5 hours and several minutes.
