Rich and Selwood are great young players, but they're not absolute freaks like Judd and Franklin who were also passed over at least once.

If 2009 was Yarran's draft year and he had been born just 12 days later, he would be headed to the GC or sitting out the upcoming draft...

Yarran has a better chance of polishing a premiership medal than Rich in the next five to ten years.

Our list, midfield and ruck division in better shape than Brisbane's with Bradshaw, Black, Power and Johnstone all 30 plus from next year.

They have beaten us since last year, yet someone said they're in better shape than Carlton.

I think you might be on to something here tommi, the way he lopes and moves at high speed is very Mcleod-esque

..am just saying that when you have an older kid drafted that's ready made and has immediate impact because they're ahead in their development, it's very hard for a much younger kid to overtake them in a couple of seasons.. ..i haven't spoken down on Yaz at all, for me it was more about addressing something else.. ..i've always said i reckon he'll be v.good and possibly more, but that being so young may take a little longer than i'd like, considering where i think our list is at.. ..that's pretty much been my stance..

..and i'm not going overboard regarding how good Rich is.. ..he's good, i don't think there's any doubt about that.. ..he also is the type of player i think we lack.. ..as for Rich being a freak, too early to tell but if he is anything like how j.selwood's been going, then yes he'll be a freak like judd and buddy.. ..they all play different roles on the footy field, but in my opinion j.selwood's definately a freak in the making..

I think you might be getting ahead of yourself or else desperately want a premiership medal for fev BKB. Don't see this as our window.....for mine it opens in a few years time.....when Gibbs, Kreuz and Murph have a 100 games and are our core with Juddy, with 50 games pumped into the likes of Warnock, Robbo, Army, Aussie, Browne, Bower and Yazza and the support cast, plus whoever else is lucky enough to be picked up by us. I see no trouble drafting for sustained success and with the longer term view of our window being +3-8yrs

Yazz was ranked 2nd best available (behind NicNat) by our recruiters last year.

We chose the best available for our pick which is the way it should be!! Very, very comfortable with this decision

Yazz has all the skills from what I've seen and has extreme upside. It's only a matter of time, and experience, before everything clicks. Once it does, look out!!! He'll be tearing defences apart!!

..well, we honestly don't know if Knockers will truely deliver [we hope hew will].. ..the Hammer shows some really good signs, but if Knockers doesn't come on as we hope, will Hammer be good enough to carry most of the ruckload so we can push the Krooz fwd..?.. ..or do we go in search of a young KPF to build our fwd line around once Fev retires..?.. ..as good as Krooz is [and going to be], he can't ruck and be KPF at the same time, and we don't have any young kpf's coming thru so if we're not gonna really try and make a run for the flag while we have the Fev, then not sure what we're waiting for to be honest..

..and it's not cos i'm desparate for Fev to have a premiership medal, i want 'em all to have one..!!.. ..also, going by yer time strategy dude, ummm... ..you do realise that both Murphos and the Gibblet have topped 50 games, and the Krooz will top it next year.. ..another year or two and mostly there for the games you want 'em to have.. ..but i mention the Fev mostly cos of the talk surrounding needing to draft to help him out in the fwd line.. ..in regards to keeping our window open for 3-8 yrs.. ..if we're smart then yeah sure we can and should be able to manage that, but i reckon it's gonna be opening sooner with Fev up front..

Didn't have the best night against the Pies however he showed his class and pace in the 1st qtr with his run/carry and shot at goal.......pity it hit the post.
Regardless that segment of play to me shows that we have a lot to look forward to with Yazz in coming years.

and this team lacks toughness so we go and recruit him.

The kid is 18, has moved to a big city and is experiencing a huge step up in class/pressure. Obviously has some of those skills that you just can't teach. Also like most small forwards he'll be at his best if he is playing in a side that has some decent and bigger kp forwards alongside him. Shouldn't be expected to play anything more than cameo roles off the interchange. I for one am prepared to cut him some slack for now. FFS.

FFS what could you seriously expect from an 18yo playing in our forward line last night? Our disposal into the forward line was terrible and the Pies were flooding.
The kid ooozes class - lets see what he can do next year after a full preseason. I for one think he is an exciting prospect.
