don't see many young players come in and kick that well straight away on their non-dominant side.

the steal and pass was magic.

protect him well and he will be a star.

Geeez, just saw that for first time. Real pace and composure :smoking:

Yarran v Rich argument will go on forever (Rich 30+ possies tonite in a BOG performance). Totally different players. Its like Manikato v Kingston Town ??

Yarran's got a helluva lot more upside than Rich imo.

Have a read of showbag's post (who saw a fair bit of both players in the WAFL) in the previous page... interesting read.

If you were unsure why we drafted Yarran before seeing this, then welcome to 'The Yarran Fan Club' coz you certainly understand now

Haven't seen Rich taking the piss out of someone yet, Yarran isn't even AFL fit

That goal is very "Brisbane Lions like".

We have almost a complete squad of right footers who can kick well on their left.

Even Fisher is excellent on his left, and he should've done the same for his fourth in the third.

Rich may be a great kick (although people are getting carried away in this thread), but i don't think he is that special a player as an inside mid. He also isn't blessed with pace ... so if you can get the ball to him he has big hurt factor, but i suspect he will be tagged out of games pretty easily in coming years.

He struggled with a tag in the u18's. He struggled with a tag in the WAFL ... and although he has come into AFL very strongly indeed, i think he will get found out. When Rich is getting tagged out of games in years to come, Yarran will have finally had some preseasons under his belt and should be firing.

For the record i had a love/hate realtionship with Rich last year ... and for the most part i just thought he was a slolwish, lazy footballer with a great kick. Yarran on the other hand did some delicious stuff at WAFL level. If you were going on exposed form in the WAFL last year then Yarran >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Rich. I would still think that over their careers it will turn out that way.

You are obvioulsy not a Melbourne Royal Show showbag, as they are usually full of *&%$

Anyone with doubts over Yarran after tonight is delusional.
They need to go and sit up in the box seat with KB and Bichmond.

GO YAZZ!

Yarran certainly showcased his skill set. Feeding mostly on crumbs the whole match, it won't be long till the coach says, "Get it to Yarran and let him create."

I still reckon Yarran has a way to go. Which is to be expected, and was explained by the recruiting staff when we took him at the draft. But, gee, he has shown some clean skillz.

It is unlikely that Yarran will ever be as good as Rich. Whats done is done as far as drafting is concerned. Rich is already an A grade midfielder on last nights performance. All I care about is that Yarran makes it & lets face it his body is 2 years away.

Let's hope so. Right here and now Rich is an ELITE kick of the football. At present he would be in the top 5 players in the AFL for spotting and delivering to a target inside forward 50 and this is the area that is the most difficult to deliver to ... name me one player from Carlton that can first spot up and then deliver to a target inside 50 with both short and long kicking, better than what Rich can.

Yarran has alot of work to do.

Houlihan
Judd
Simpson
Fev

Houlihan - class passer with time and space - but long kicks? nope
Judd - obviously one of the best players in recent decades and a very good pass, but not spectacular in this facet.
Simpson - :donk: you CANNOT be serious! Have you ever seen Rich or Simpson? Try justifying this...
Fev - oh come on now, you're really reaching - Fev's a talented kick but how many times a game does Fev kick inside 50?[/quote]
Have a look at yesterday's game re: Houla, Simpson and Judd. This time take your blinkers off.
Fev does it when he has to. The premise was than they can do it, which we all know he can. (Well, almost all of us)
If Fev reckons Houla is the best pass in the team he must be OK but perhaps you've been on the end of a few loose ones from Houla and would know better.
Rich is a star already but we DO have people who can deliver the footy just as well.

His ferocious tackling and chasing alone has added a new dimension to the forward line.

..did what he was drafted to do, and as i've said his skills and talent haven't ever been questioned.. ..for me, it's all more about the question of how long we'll have to wait..

He looked good did Yarran. Very smooth, very exiting. The crowd went nuts where I was sitting when he took off and kicked that goal. A nice little glimpse of things to come.

Bryce Gibbs gave Yazz a wrap on the Sunday footy show this morning. He said that he is going to be a special player, and that he looks like he's not even trying (sounded in awe of Yazz)....
