Reading this, it looks like the Swans want to make the game as ugly as they can. It will be a real test for us, whether we can cope with their strangling tactics that they have honed over 7 years.
The more I think about it, the more I think the West Sydney franchise is necessary. Whats keeping fans away from AFL in Sydney is the Swans. Get a team with a lot of talented young players and the right coach that will play a gamestyle that isnt used as torture in Guantanamo Bay and the audience will come
That link doesn't seem to be working. All I'm getting is an article saying the Swans probably won't play Goodes on Judd.
Winning is what attracts the crowd and supporters (see Carlton 2002-2007). Playing basketball and finishing tenth doesn't do it.
This is what the Herald Sun has done to Melbourne. All people read now is the headline and opening paragraph
Quote:
“The key to winning will be to stop Judd who gets a lot of hard ball these days and also the outside run of Marc Murphy and Bryce Gibbs.
“We need to cut off the supply to Brendan Fevola who is obviously in outstanding form. We don’t want a shootout. That is not our style and we will concentrate heavily on winning the ball from stoppages.
Come in, spinner. Actually this is what happens when people know knob all about the game.
Stopping Judd? I wonder why no other coaches have thought of this? LOL
Cut off the supply to Fev? Wow! Another new tactic from Roos. Hope none of the other coaches try doing this.
Shootout? Few, if any teams do shootouts nowadays.
Winning the ball from stoppages? Name a coach who's not really interested in winning stoppages.
Shame on Sydney for trying to reduce our strengths and play to theirs. Could ruin football all together.
ps You left out "defensive pressure."
