With the names Bower, Austin & O'hAilplin at the selection table, life looks like getting a little tougher for Anderson & Hartlett. Personally I'd want to give them both a real crack at where they should fit in the side, but not sure if there's the room just yet.
Further pushes the theory that Hartlett has to make it up forward, first and foremost.
Assuming Bower, Setanta & Hampson are fit:
IN: Bower, Setanta, Austin, Scotland
OUT: Hartlett, Bentley, Fisher, Armfield
I've softened on my stance with Houlihan; had 19 touches and was in the clinches, albeit not laying many tackles. Got caught a lot and pinged once, but while an issue of intensity, different from what we normally see from him. Worth persisting with so long as he tries to change.
I am a big fan of where Armfield can go as a player, but Anderson deserves another go around. On top of that, he matches up on those medium forwards which beat Army in the air, and Johnson/Scotland on the ground. Would have towelled Morton if we needed him to last week, and even spent some time on Riewoldt. That flexibility was something I felt we could have with Armfield being able to play on a wing, but he hasn't kicked on in that respect.
Hartlett is unlucky, but Bower probably won't come up.
Interesting ins...would we be going in too tall though? I'm inclined to leave Armfield in for this one only because of his toughness. Houla's the worry for me in games like these when its in close and tough...he tends to become invisible very quickly.
I'd bring in Scotland Bower and Carlos if all available and drop Fisher Bentley and Houla. I'm dropping Houla purley on horses for courses and believe me this course this week is not made for Hoops.
