Have not beaten Sydney since 2000

Significant week coming up

If we keep turning the ball over we will get thumped- need to bring in some players that can kick properly - Stevo and Scotto maybe

Fev will be interesting this week doesn't normally go that well against the Swans -

I'm not looking forward to this game. Sydney are #1 in HO and CP and well as 1st use. as well as good users of the footy, we need smart players with mature bodies.

Agree with the first Duke, but the second won't give you a win if the mature bodied players are not prepared to put said bodies on the line.

Looking forward to the game.

I see the usual suspects calling for Houla's head again this week even though he was in the top four or five for disposals and had a reasonable game in a position to which he is not suited. Got caught at least once I can think of. Was more at it than usual. Had a good third quarter when all around him had a bad one. He will be pretty low on the list of people to drop.

Fisher is a worry for mine. He needs to stay on his feet more for a start. His marking wasn't there last week either and it is his best/only real quality. IMO he should make way for Setanta.

Hartlett did enough to get another week so if Austin is to be included, it should be at the expense of Ando, who looked out of his depth most of the time. He will need more time in the seniors to adjust to the pace of the game but I don't think his time is just yet.

If either of Scotland or Stevens is to be included, Bentley will probably go out to make way for one of them. If they both come in, I think it might be Garlett, who IMO will be a star at this level but is unfortunately still a fringe player. I'd be happy for him to stay in.

Hampson's shoulder hasn't been talked about at all so he may also need a fitness test.

Barring injuries,
Ins: Setanta, Austin
Outs: Fisher Ando

We'll win this and I'll be there to see it.

I suspect you're referring to Stevo, DUC.

While I agree that he's soft, I also say he has beautiful skills and finishing. Something that an 18/19 YO won't give you. He's broken his neck which will stop him putting his scon over the footy (and fair enough).

We need to use him where he's suited and make sure we don't kick it to him in a 1 on 2 or 3 situation. This is where brains comes into it.

I saw some kicks to small players on Saturday where we were badly out numbered and subsequently turned it over.

According to The Age today, Hampo has a shoulder injury (AC joint) as well as a busted nose which may see him miss this week.

I've very sad that Cloke is a chance to get a game now, especially against Jolly

Duke, I think Stevo's application to getting the best out of himself has let him down more than anything else. I'm not sure how long the neck can be the reason for his conditioning or lack thereof.

In the Bummers game, Stevo placed a lot of players in jeopardy by handballing to them in hot situations and a lot of his handballs didn't carry.

Bring back Scotto, but Stevo to remain in the 2nds IMO.

Fair enough DUC, I can't disagree with his lack of fitness. Definately seems well below par.

Im all for giving Austin as much time as possible in the seniors to fast-track his development but he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire prior to his suspension and I reckon a couple of weeks with the Ants will be good for him. If Harts isn't injured, he showed enough to keep his spot and there is no need to have Him and Ozzie in the same side. O'hAilpin is a must if he comes up (in place of Fisher) and then replace Ando with Scotto.

Bentley should go too - not sure for who though. Stevens is the obvious choice but has his exile been long enough to send the message and trigger self-improvement in his game?

I actually watched the Freo game again and can I say that I thought Aussie was pretty good in that game when we needed players to lift in the second half.

He backed himself a few times and didn't look like a deer in the headlights at all. There was confidence in how he attacked the ball.

I would persist with him and try to keep our backline consistent [play the same players there] if we can.

I'm not sure if Harts has a match up forward unless Jolly plays there when resting, so if Bower fit, bring him straight in.

Ins
Bower
Carlos
Scotto
Austin

Outs
Army
Ando
Fish

Definite - Out Fisher, In Setanta
Probably - Out Bentley, In Scotland
Maybe - Anderson played badly but will probably be given another chance; I think Garlett should stay in too.

Injury - Out Hampson, In Cloke?
Is Jamo ok or has he hurt his groin? (Am o/s & radio coverage said he hurt his groin at some point...)
If he has, Out Jamo, In Austin

Not sure about the calls to bring Browne back. He clearly has much to improve on in the VFL before he should come back and I suspect Army is not too far behind getting similar instructions. They have great attitudes and it is seductive to call for their inclusion in response to seeing the uninspiring efforts of Stevens & co but IMO they are nowhere near as good at this stage. The solution is to improve the hardness of the skilled but soft ones or to improve the skills of the hard but poorly skilled. Both deficiencies cost us. But it does not help to address one at the expense of the other.

We must beat the Swans and I have just about given up on what should have been our goal for this sort of match to win by 8goals+. We are just not playing that well. 8 goals+ would see us full of confidence going into the Pies match. 3 goal win - not so much...
We seem to raise our game against the better sides having come close against the Saints, beating the Lions, Bulldogs, Pies. But we drop our bundle against sides we should beat. I am worried about our coach and also the cockiness of our young team - it appears like we ease up once we think we are on top. PErhaps, it is not the worst thing in the world to be behind where we all think we should be at the moment - may help with our attitude going forward so that we can maintain a winning culture for longer when we do get there.

If we turn up to play and look like we're progressing: getting a game plan, starting to understand and execute that game plan, starting to work more for each other, less hospital passes and circle work, then I'll be happy, regardless of whether we win or lose (disappointed, but not unhappy).

Hampson played out the game and looked fine so I would think he will be ok for sat.

I dont think Bentley will get dropped, I dont think Ando will either.

For mine its
Out: Fisher
In: Setanta

How strange our perceptions can be. I always thought you were a woman because of your name, marci(blue), I figured was short for Marcia

Looking at our run home I think this week and round 20 against Port are the two games that will determine our fate this year - Win them both we will play finals - lose them we wont

we should beat North and Demons - will struggle against Geelong Crows and Pies

We need these two to sure up that spot in the 8 - one might see us sneak in two will make it certain

If Warnock plays for the Ants , I think Garlett may be back to the rookie list again .
Therefore won't be able to play .

I thought that after round 11 all rookies could be played no matter what the LTI situation is.
