I dont mind Buckley but lets face it whilst he is the flavour of the month at the moment he is not the touchstone of all wisdom on football or coaching

Remember he left Brisbane to play in finals and win grand finals

A few years ago Tim Watson was in a very similiar position to Buckley

So if Buckley thinks Essendon* are better placed than us then good on him

Was he saying this when we beat the dogs collingwood or brisbane

Thats right when we thrashed Collingwood he said they were never going to win because of who they had out

Obviously he didnt realise how many we had out yesterday - perhaps he also forgot that we played at Subi at 4.40 last sunday - perhaps like a few on 3AW he is sloppy and doesnt prepare properly

Perhaps until he becomes a coach he wont know -Not sure I would judge Ratts on Buckley

Everyone keeps yapping on about game plans, but can anyone actually define them and give examples of other teams, other than simple statements. eg. Essendon* play on, Geelong hanball and have constant movement??

Even better, how about posters who keep knocking Ratten actually write what game plan they think would be successful?????

His premiership looks good.

OK Melvey, time to put your cards on the table. You have been carping on about how Ratts is not the man to coach Carlton for a bloody eternity.
Therefore one would reasonably assume that you have an alternative in mind.
Pray tell who is this mastermind that is everything that Brett Ratten isn't.

Melvey wants Choco Williams. The man who can't even get his team to beat Melbourne.

Maybe they had injuries, or is it a different excuse, Melvey?

Melvey always has an excuse for other teams.

Ideally i'd love Paul Roos to coach this side but thats never going to happen. A premiership winning coach that developed a champion team not a team of champions.

If i were in charge i would have...........

Senior coach - Mark Williams

Assistants - Nathan Buckley, Brenton Sanderson and Todd Viney.

Development coach - Allan Richardson

Football ops manager - Graham Allan

Or Timmy Watson???

The difference between a guy like Williams and a guy like Ratts.. is Ratts has the best player in the comp... 3 number 1 picks.. and the best full forward...and in 44 games has proven nothing.

Williams has been at a financially struggling club... no number 1 picks.. had to get a club thats started from scratch and has won a flag ... played off in another gf.. and finished on top or the top 2 or 3 on the ladder end of season....

You can compare Ratts with blokes like Timmy Watson... Damian Drum.. Frawley... till he can show something and prove himself.. not with a guy with an AFL flag under his belt and some really solid finals performances...

Who's to say Ratts can't be part of a Champion team of coaches? Ratts as senior with the best assistants around him?

Oh, that's right, isn't it Melvey, because it's got Ratten it couldn't work....

Well he might... but so far you cant compare him to a champion winning coach.... but you can hope.... that he might do it... but again there is nothing anyone can point to that can suggest he is a chance.... whats he won... 15 out of 44 games???

no gameplan....
cant switch the senior players on to play...
struggling aginst bottom 2 sides....
still trying to work out which players can do what.....

There is no apparent formula to success as things stand... its a matter of crossing our fingers and hoping...

but yeah.. number 17 is in the bag with ratts...for sure...

and lets all laugh at williams...

lol

Gee you're really proving me wrong about Ratten by attacking me.

Please tell me why you think Ratten is the right man and back it up with evidence. I'd really love to read you thoughts as to why

were on the right path......

there are organised footy teams and disorganised footy teams...

were in the latter cataguory...

Because he puts Jammo to Full forward and gives them a sniff of winning.

That move was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

I'm still trying to work out why????

I was gonna judge him at the end of next season but that move lost him in my mind and that's why IMO he aint up to coaching in the AFL let alone become part of a champion team of coaches.

If he wanted to move a player to the forward line youd think it would be hartlett.

hartlett is the player that really was a forward as a junior...

but its not about those kinds of moves ....

.. its about preperation and how switched on we are... how organised we are... etc..
the stuff you do away from the game that begins with the months in pre season...

were a team that just hasnt done much.

right now judd is jaded....

and alot of our players are treading water in their development...

it points to a lack of overall improvement in the planning.

Not making an excuse here for Ratts but Jammo injured his quad late in the third hence why he played as a deep forward. With us tiring Jammo was part of the rotations because we were running out of legs.

Ratten is lucky. If the Hawks continued on from last year we wouldn't make the eight.

I honestly believe the Bombers are currently a far better unit than us.

The thing with Ratten is that i just don't see any improvement. Out on the field we look like a team with no system, no direction and lacking belief.

And for those that think Stevo and Scottland were dropped due to poor effort and poor conditioning, you are wrong.

Open your other eye people.

Then explain why he was moved back and played out the game from FB and not listed as injured anywhere.
