What do Ando fans need to be "quiet" about? You mean the guy out there with 26 on his back, right?

I talked to 20-30 people after the game and we all thought he did pretty well. No-one is saying he's in our best 22 (yet), but a great sign for our depth that he kept things together back there.

Get a flowering grip.

Our depth players were used y'day and all held up pretty well. Read Harts, Ando, Bentley etc. Encouraging signs, but plenty of hard work ahead.

How did the Cats go last night?

I don't understand some of the criticism of Anderson and Bently either. They didn't star, but if thats your expectation of them then you'll always be disappointed.

I actually thought Hartlett was well beaten by Post at the game, but after watching the replay he wasn't too bad.

It was by no means an inspiring win, but it was a win and given the conditions and the fact we were coming off a 6 days break from a trip to Perth I'm happy to win.

Don't care who played well and who didn't, conditions were crap, even Judd's passes were all over the place.

For Fev to kick 9 and kick straight on a day where my car was been thrown all over the place on the freeway because of the wind was a fantastic effort by Fev...

I thought for his 1st game back in the bigtime for a long time that Harts did well. Love his long kicking which could be a weapon in the confined spaces of the Dome.

Post really impressed me. He'll be a gun for the tigers IMO. Great pick up for them.

Agree re` Harts. Did some good heavy body work/spoiling.Also noticed him running in to fly the flag when there was a bit of push and shove. That`s the sort of thing that has previously been missing,though improving this year.
One kick out of his must have travelled 65m. Should have been used up forward at some point during the game. Needs to be given a good run at it now.

I wasn't all that happy with the game, but the 2nd and some of the 3rd were good.

Out of the low-gamers I liked Ando, Bentley, Garlett, Joseph

and I didn't like Hartlett, Armfield

Personally I'd like to see Browne back in the side.

The thing that really stuck out to me is how bad Fisher and Houlihan were, Hoops is past it and Fish just never had it to begin with.

Ugly as sin game but we needed to grind it out which we fortunately did, (with a large dose of Fevola magic). Swirly winds and some aches and pains post Perth trip certainly didn't help our cause but we came away with a win. That last quarter was very forgettable.

Loved Garlett's run on the wing with the old arch of the back and Fev's goal following was beautiful/flukey/brilliant stuff for the highlight reel. Thought Hartlett actually did a good job for his first game in and hopefully can build on it. Would be great to have a true pinch hitter with some height. Ando may not have racked the possessions up but he didn't give me the feeling he was going to @#$%&! his kicks up as much as past games. Bentley's long goal from the set shot was class.

Got real worries about Fish.

I'm not doing cartwheels today but it's always good to beat the Tiger 'special people'. (They'd be well pleased with Post. He was brilliant at times.)

Bit harsh there Juzzy. Fisher was one of the few bright lights in some very lean years,but agree he`s struggling and shouldn`t be in our best 22.
Re` Hartlett,with the suspension of Austin and withdrawal of Setanta there was no other option and i thought he did well considering he was not playing in his best position.
Agree with bringing Browne back.

..actually, when you take the conditions into account i thought it was a v.good win.. ..don't be too fooled by the tiges, sure we smashed them up first but that was one of the best games of footy we've played all year.. ..they had a dodgey coach on his way out, and some deadwood on their list playing.. ..this time around jade has them playing better, and some good signs from their fresh faces.. ..it looked ugly cos the wind played funny buggers with everyone's kicking bar one.. ..a good number of 'turnovers' i reckon were simply wind effected kicks.. ..

..and even though he had just 1 goal i thought Bettsy played a good game.. ..nice assist work too..

Happy to take 4 and run with that game. Going into it it had that "Dora miss" game written all over it. I would have taken a scrappy 20pt win before the game.

Next week is where we can really start to build some momemtum. scotland for houlahan and Carlos for Fisher swaps should do the trick. Weeks following that we slowly bring in more class with Walker ,Warnoch , Stevens, Yarran and Browne.

Did anyone else notice a behind being taken off our score yesterday? It happended early in the 2nd quarter when the score was 4.5 29, a few minutes later it went to 4.4 28. I watched the replay last night and the commentator on channel 10 said at this time there was a discrepency in the scoreboard.
After watching the replay i didnt think Houlihan played too bad at all.

Why the long faces, the game was never in doubt. We did exactly what was required. Scored well against a swirling wind and capatilised when we had the advantage.

A short break, post a twi-light game in Perth. Changes to the side due to key injuries to our back six.

Don't think Freo played too well in Adelaide!! Under the same preparation!!

Good to see Anderson and Hartlet, having a game. Good kicking by Hartlet (under poor conditions) spotting up players 40 - 50 meters away.

Anderson took a little time adjusting to the pace, should be given time to climatise.

Like all other teams, would be happy with the 4 points.

We really did grind and grind. Sure there was not much in terms of champagne footy, but we fought it out and won, the hard way.

We have a long way to go, but we are heading in the right direction.

Selfish Fev on 3 occassions. We missed 5 golden Opportunities to score goals
Fumbling by hand had nothing to do with the conditions
Houla had good hands and was able to break through congestion with class

No cohesion running the ball out of defense.

Also good were Houla on a HB, Hampson really had a dip along with Kreuzer (no fear), Again Fisher presented well but couldn't control the ball once it hit the turf.
Tigers had 60% of the possession and won the play but not the scoreboard
A real lack of intensity. Carrazzo and rucks (and Fev) kept us in the game
Lack of accountability from Grigg.

Also good in the last were Hampson who kept putting his body on the line and Garlett and Bettsy's forward pressure were very good. We looked like we were going to run away with the game, but to Tigers credit they worked harder and better than the Blues. Clangers did not help our cause.

I couldn't work out what the game plan was in the last. It looked like it was a procession till they got within 14 points and then Judd meister really dug deep as did Carrots and Russell to get us out of trouble.

I really thought our peripheral players are just that: Hartlett, Bentley and Anderson. They all showed good signs but are not AFL ready. Maybe its the games under their belt that is missing.
Armfield's foot skills are very ordinary and hope someone with a bit of pace can give him some relief, and IMO Browne is not the one. We lack depth in the pace dept.

Simmo was very quiet, but it was our more experienced players that got us out of this one: Fevola, Judd, Carrazzo, Thornton and Houlihan along with great support from the younger players Russell, Gibbs, Murphy, Grigg, Hammer and Kreuzer. Bettsy and Garlett contested well, but need more output from them.

Really looking forward to Warnock, Walker, Bower, Austin and Scotland coming back into the team....and Waite

As long as we keep winning and make the finals in 08, I am happy, but we have a long way to go for a premiership (Crows, Lions, Cats, Saints, Pies and Bumbers are ahead of us imo). Fingers crossed with the abovementioned inclusions we can gather a bit of momentum and play with a bit of purpose in our game.

Not for the first time, I think Houlihan is drawing some unfair comments. He was far from our worst player yesterday, IMO.

It's never as good as it looks and it's never as bad as it seems.

Was always going to be a tough game. All things considered it was a reasonable and fairly comfortable win that would surely have been more comfortable had we not fatigued badly as a result of playing in Perth less than six days earlier. It was good to finally see an opposition kick inaccurately against us, after this issue has cost us at least a couple of games this season. Judd (clean disposal wise), Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson and Betts all had down games, our emerging CHF pulled out just before the game and we fielded an inexperienced and unfamiliar defensive unit yet were still 7 goals ahead early in the last quarter.

Also good to see players like Carrazzo, Grigg (particularly first half) and Russell step up when the more glamorous names weren't having great days.
