Dude, you don't know what the deal is. What if they don't offer us some really good supporters? Or refuse us some early draft picks for some of the most exciting young supporters in the land? We can't just do any old deal offered.

It is like any player in the competition, if you think the deal/trade being offered is in your favour you take it.

Spot on.

We have the best FF in the league and he is our most potent matchwinner so why the @#$%&! would you want to tade him ?

This is a rediculous thread anyway as he isn't going anywhere.

This is about loving or hating Fev - he is a blueboy.

Would the Saints trade Reiwoldt or Hawks Buddy Franklin?

Argue the point - no need for personal attacks

Lets get serious guys, Fev will come under 10 year rule next year and will have an automatic 50% redustion of his salary against the cap. So what can any other team offer him that we can't?

HE AIN'T GOING ANYWHERE

How about, the same pay with lower standards.

Another team can offer to continue to have one set of rules for Fev, and another for the rest of the team. I don't know how much longer the MC can continue to offer Fev that now that the Vice Captain and Scotland are running around in the VFL. Whatever "message" is being sent to the players by this little excercise, which many have argued could have cost us our spot in the finals, will be completely undermined if Fev is treated with kiddy gloves the next time "bad Fev" shows up to play.

I can see why Sydney would chase him. He'd win half a dozen games off his own boot every year, which would keep them competitive until the compromised drafts are finished. Then they could bottom out properly without being robbed by GC and West Syd.

I want the club to be rational, cold and calculating because we clearly do not have a premiership list and will need to trade to get there. Fev is a great player but we need top grade youth to pull a flag. If we can do a Hawthorn style trade
& maybe do a 2 for 1 deal for a 29 year old, I would applaud the club for being proactive-

... or the Eagles - Chris Judd, or the Swans - Greg Williams, or the Blues - Aaron Hamill or the Demons - Shane "Brownlow" Wowodin, or the Tigers - Brad Ottens etc etc

if the deal is too good to refuse you would take it, but it would want to be something special thats for sure!!

So we play Essendon*, who most Blues supporters consider our arch rival and most important game each year, and we have Peter Pan at full forward.

What's to say Peter Pan (instead of Superman who we saw today) won't turn up at a Grand Final, should we ever make it with him in the team?

This is the assessment our list management team has to make. It hasn't been a great year so far for Fev, too many down days, and we are treading dangerours territory when we punish SCotland and Stevens but let Peter Pan off. This MUST have an impact on team psychology.

Hypothetically then, what do people think we could get for Fev?

Who are the teams who'd be interested?

Swans?
Doggies?
Anyone else?

Cats maybe? Tomahawk isn't coming along as quickly as the fans or media would like.

Forget Geelong, they couldnt fit him under the salary cap. The Swans are the only ones who probably could. If they offered a first round pick and O'Keefe as a starting point it may be worth looking at but i may not be an expert but dont we need someone to kick our goals?
Why does this have to come up now with 7-8 weeks of the season to go? This is not the NRL.
I am sick of this rumour coming up every year.

Personally, I don't think Fev will ever be traded.

But I'm interested in what people think we could get for him.

Warnock, and Hammer in the ruck.

Kreuzer, Waite, and Setanta as key position forward options.

Plus whatever we get in return for Fev.

Reasons Fev ain't going nowhere

- contracted beyond the end of this year on a lucrative deal, any offer would need to be ridiculously generous to entice him
- a player who has strong emotional attachment to our club. Openly declares his love of Carlton and after suffering through the worst period in our history he takes off for a club about to start their own long decline? I dont think so!
- as he is a contracted player, any club wanting to acquire Brendan will need to be incredibly generous to even get us to think about a trade. If it is Sydney, it would need to be 1st round plus PLENTY!!!
- will enter next season as a veteran enabling us to keep 50% of salary out of TPP (hope we can use this to do some damage of our own!)

Reasons Fev will leave

- cant think of any! :donk:

I fail to see why Fev cant be a part of a successful fwd line structure. We just have to get our fwd 50 entries right....we are either refusing to play to instruction by not looking for other options going forward or we are actually playing to instruction...the instruction being 'kick it to Fev...kick it to Fev'. Baffling...especially given the class of mids we have who can actually hit targets inside 50 such as Judd Murph and Gibbs.
