Well the article sums up the 165+ pages on JR in one page.

JR knows his faults and continues to work on them.

Interesting that he thought he should've been dropped also, but the MC didn't do it a few times.

As I have thought all along, he sounds like a good bloke. He is very honest with himself.

For all you doubters on TC, rememeber he plays for Carlton.

Good article by Mike. Usually we see puff pieces in the papers with no criticism or analysis of an interviewee.
I was a massive doubter last year but JR has almost won me over. Reading the article, I think confidence is his main issue. When he starts to believe that he belongs on the same stage as Judd, Murphy etc, he will become a solid AFL player, maybe not a star but a definite regular. He has all the tools.

I just found it interesting as to how the MC operates.

JR is still only a C grade player on our list, so if JR thinks he is struggling for form, how do the MC come to the decision to keep picking him? I would love to know the communicaton process, maybe the team player factor? maybe he had credits? maybe they simply wanted to see if he could play himself into form via the seniors instead of the Bullants?

I can't help but believe that Russell will take another step up.

He's a great physical specimen and last week he showed that he knows where to run and does so very well when he (in his words) takes the 'bold' approach.

I really believe in him. He's only 22 and getting better.

At this very minute, he's ahead of Johnson, Stevens, Garlett, Robinson, Browne, Anderson, Yarran, Fisher, Cloke, Wiggins, Hadley, Bannister and the rookies in my books.

I think the MC choosing not to drop him when he clearly felt that he should be dropped was more about the physch profile the MC has on him and what dropping would do to him upstairs.

Really good insight into JR. Proves what I always thought .... it's all above the shoulders with JR. When he starts to believe himself and manage the negative mind set, he will be a valuable part of our 22.

That he didn't get dropped because of perhaps the MC's view on the impact on his confidence but then that the dropping actually spurred him to change his thinking is also interesting stuff. Bit of "tough love" has worked there.

Thought his game yesterday was terrific. His tackling was excellent ... one of the few that really hits them hard and drives the player into the ground. Few tiges were getting up slowly after his hits. Speed, nice side stepping, taking them on, good decision making ... really added value to the team. Well done JR.
