Noting Carrazzo's selection in the centre this week and his game time last week, does anyone get the feeling that the MC have realised he's a better ball extractor option than Hadley and others?

I think with better half back and backline running options coming through in Joseph and hopefully Anderson, Carrazzo's only role is midfield (noting his half forward defensive games as well) and he's one of the better bets on our list in that spot.

Agree, so long as he makes quicks decisions heading into the forward 50, there's no issue with his footskills.

Carrots looked so much better attacking the ball in the forward half of the ground, so did the rest of the team when he was played in that role. Gave the team that added bite we so often lack. It's a tremendous move.

I just hope they continue to use it. If we need to stem the tide the other way, you can go back to it, but when you need to attack he's made for that role.

If Carrots does get to play on the ball as an extractor, and to win the ball in the centre, rather than as a defensive forward, I'll be very interested to see well we go. He could make a real difference there. But then, he makes a difference in most spots - Was pivotal playing on Gilbee in our win against the doggies.

Good luck Carrots!! Get so much of it that you cement yourself in there. If he can I'd love to see Gibbs playing more forward of centre and setting us up, rather than a link man from half back. With Gibbs, Murphy and Carrazzo (not to mention a little fellow named Judd) all in the centre and capable of winning the ball, it makes it even harder for the opposition.

Scotland coming from the half back flank through the centre adds to the quality. It would also make it that bit harder for Stevens to get back in which at the moment isn't such a bad thing.

..alot of the good extractors (diesel aside) often have so-so skills.. ..not sayin' they're hacks, but often their skills aren't in that highly touted 'elite' category.. ..so Carrot's alledged poor disposal (actually it's not that poor at all anymore) won't be anywhere near as much of an issue with him playing a genuine midfield role.. ..he's strong, evasive, huge tank and good in tight spots.. ..he also always runs to create an option.... ..and he'd really help free up Judd..

..lookit watson, ppl been baggin' him for years, and yet he's one of the premier extractors nowadays..

His kicking has improved out of site - some of the goals he has kicked this year I didn't think he had it in him.

A few years back he appeared as if he couldn't kick it over a jam tin

He is banging them in from outside 50 at the moment

I know he's only played 6 games so far this season but he's averaging a goal a game - he'd never averaged more than 0.4 a game.

Carrotts contract is up this year.

Delist? Trade? 1 year? 2 years? 3 years?

I thought the general rule around he club was you had a maximum of 2 years after you win the Best and Fairest

Or did they alter that after Judd won one

On current form he will get a contract

Actually my mates and I noticed that his kicking really turned the corner in 2008 - He improved out of sight last year.
I think along with Walker and Waite, he seems to be one of those reliable versatile players that get us over the line when we're wavering.

Hope he plays out the rest of the year without injury - Go Carazzz!

Agree completely.

Carrots is in our top 5 players IMO. He may lack the speed and precision of Judd but he makes up for it by footy smarts.

His goal kicking this year has been excellent.

Been kicking them from 50 with ease.

I think the MC knew that all along.

You have to appreciate that playing that inside role requires your body to be close to 100% and Carrots has had a few injuries this season.
This is a good sign that he finnaly has his body right this season

Go Carrots, he is primed for a huge game against the tiger midfield!
