HB: Bentley Hartlett Johnson

You are kidding me.

Could lose this.

Spot on. This is just plain lazy selecting, going down the "don't change a winning team" path. How the hell Bentley is playing ahead of Scotto is totally beyond me. His selection seems to mirror JR in his early days, and even though that looks like it may now pay dividends, with finals a big chance this year, can we afford to be educating Bentley now at the expense of a class player ??

Harts, fair enough as we just don't have any talls left, and we wanna keep Santy at CHF now. But just say that HB line slowly......."Bentley, Hartlett, Johnson" :yikes:

It's not Bentley who is being educated. I would have thought that was fairly self evident.

Why couldn't Anderson come in for Bentley so we have a matchup for Morton?

Why couldn't Yarran come in and play a more productive role on ball or at HF?

I hope I'm not being thrown in with that boat. I'm allowed to be annoyed without being completely perplexed and suffering an aneurysm... right?

Give Bentley a few weeks in a row - Unfortunately for him the first few possies that he had in the Hawks and Dockers game were under some of the fiercest pressure of the day and he stuffed them up - I reckon that set the tone for the rest of those games. If he can get some clean footy and hit a target with his early touches then he may surprise us all. If not then orff wiv 'is 'ead.

He's been under pressure because most midfielders in the comp can defend against him and will always be right on his tail.

I agree, I wasn't defending him - but IMO if Ratts and the MC aren't going to bring back Scotland or Stevens then they may as well stick with Bentley for this week and maybe even next week rather than include a Bentick or Anderson or Ellard who may produce the same results. If Bentley continues to disappoint or doesn't show some glimpses then move on - but some players need to know that they will be in for 3 games regardless so that they play the team game rather than the survival game.

When did we become a good enough team to field a weaker side and expect to win????

MC must be taking the P15s, there's no other explanation.

About the same time that certain players think they can put in half the effort and receive the reward of those pushing themselves at 100%

I thought Bentley looked alright in the nab cup - good mark, long kick, big body perhaps he can rediscover that form and/or better with a few runs in the firsts.... good luck to him

Second that. And now is the time against lesser teams to give him an extended run and see how he goes. If after a few he still struggles then I'll agree with the chopping so many here want. For the moment, I just want to see something from him...

If you are going to pick a Bentley ... Hadley is a better Bentley type.

Bentley does not make sense on so many levels.

Happy that JR is in the side and playing well ... he was excellent last week.

Might be time to give AJ a rest ... he was thrashed last week.

Well... I'm a little perplexed by the selections. (Who would have thought?). I wouldn't advocate selecting Bentley, but I can understand it if they want to give him a couple of games to see how he goes. I'm not at all confident, but while he wears the navy blue - I hope he has a blinder.

I really want to see Ellard given a game some time soon to reward his efforts for the Ants. Hopefully it comes soon. Conversely, I didn't think Hartlett had done enough from the reports, but then I don't get to the Bullant games to see for myself. He has to play down back, but not sure who he will man up. No room for him up forward with the big irishman up there, and he needs to play there each week. He's been shunted around all his career, and a row of games with the same focus really might help.

Would love Carrazzo to play in the middle, and would like to see up line up as selected for at least part of the day. Hopefully JR can take the game on again and be an attacking player. :fight:

Who do people think AJ will get? I can't see it being Cousins or he'll get run off his feet. Nahas?

re: Joseph

I think the comments on being thrashed need to be taken into context. Joseph was beaten by a hard leading pimp with great hands - Ballantyne's first half was very good and his first 5-10 seem to be very quick. Add some good hands and its a very different opponent to who Joseph has been on.

Like any defender some matchups work better than others.

His work ethic remained very good and he is still one of our most important players in my book. I think he'd be worth it on Tambling given Tambling's good form. Perhaps Nahas,.

No. We want players to try there hardest who come off the ground knowing they've given it there all out there for a blues win.

I don't think you need to justify Joseph's inclusion. I am staggered that people think he should be dropped. Even if they disguise it by saying "rested"
