Long way to go fo course, and without getting ahead too far ahead of ourselves
but after looking at our reasonable remaining matches, if we could overtake Brisbane
and finish 5th, wouldnt it be a lovely chance for redemption if Essendon* could tumble
into 8th, and wouldnt that be nice to finally spank them when it really counts ?

In Sep frickin Tember !!

Think thats what im quietly dreaming for as to wait until next year to "catch up"
with them seems like a bloody eternity.

Dream a little dream with me.

exactly what i was discussing with my dad yesterday. would make both the losses worth it, but we were thinking 6th plays 7th is a more likely scenario.

As much as I'd love to beat Essendon* in a final I'd much prefer not having to play them in a final.

Lets concentrate on making the finals before we start talking about finishing 5th etc.

I've got a feeling that if we make the finals we'll have to travel interstate vs Brisbane or Adelaide. What are the chances of getting a ticket to either of those finals should they occur btw?

I thought about us finishing 8th and the Pies 5th, so we play them in an elimination final.

When was the last time we played thme in a final? 20 years at least? 100,000 at the MCG easily if it happens

We have to get there first.
Based on last week, it will be pretty difficult.
If we do, we will have to take out 'A' game or it will be a short campaign indeed.

I don't want to play Essendon*.......... they have our number. Have won the last 4.

Collingwood i'd love to play, cause we seem to have their number.

But honestly..................... i'd really like to play StKilda.

Mainly for two reasons.

1) playing the best team in the finals would give an amazing experience for our young kids.

and

2) How funny would it be if we beat them. Ohhhhhhhhhh god. You would pay good money to see the looks on Saints fans faces if that happened. hahahahaha! Priceless.

I'm SO hoping that it is not a Brisbane game.... I'm coming to Melbourne for the first 2 weeks of the finals for a family holiday, and I've already had to flag the option to my wife of flying back home to watch the game!

for me, the ideal situation sees us 5th or 6th playing brisbane in the elimination final in melbourne. even adelaide in melbourne would have a chance. . Expect Brisbane to slip in the ladder as they have to play 3 of the top 4, a game against Essendon* in melbourne, and a few trips to freo and sydney on the cards they wont be top 4.

Collingwood we're better than/as good as. And we match up well against them but i'd be wary of them purely because on their day they play ok footy.

Essendon* i'd love to play also for revenge, but again, on the big stage will they go missing?

Adelaide IMO are the 4th best team in the comp, round 22 may mean alot as to who finishes where.

Don't forget, that barring us playing Collingwood or Essendon* in the first week, any home final we'd have would be at Telstra Dome also.

Take that how you will.

Watching "One week at a time" on One HD today, Robert Walls and co were disecting the ladder from positions 6 to 11 and who they all play in the remaining rounds.

Their theory is, Sydney wont make it, Hawthorns draw is too tough and will be lucky to win 3 more games, but Port Adelaide has a
good run home and has good chance to make the 8.

Brisbane should win enough to hold their spot, which means Essendon* or Carlton will drop out to make way for Port Adelaide, but
with the best run home going to Carlton, a spot in the 8 is their's for the taking !!!!!!

I say lets just make the 8 !!!!!!!!!!

Brissy are not exactly safe either - despite Voss talking of finals two weeks back

they fell away badly this time last year

gee i dont know about the swans having no chance. . . If they beat Essendon* this week then with our record against them, and playing them the following week they'd give themselves a chance. . .

Although anyone who saw them on saturday night will laugh at me, but there's plenty of teams hoping hawthorn dont make the 8. If they make it, it means they've played some good footy to get there, and i wouldnt want to play them in a final.

Port aren't good enough for the 8. . .hawthorn and Essendon* both are better teams than port. . Hold me to this, we'll beat them at AAMI next month by 8goals. . . They just scraped home (at home) against richmond, melbourne and brisbane. . .they lost to north, and Essendon* at home. . .and how the hell people forget their efforts against stkilda at home (hundred point loss), the bulldogs (80point loss) and the cats (70point loss) and yes granted they're the 3 best teams in the comp, but it shows how far from the top they are. . .

I did a ladder predictor on Sunday night. That last game against Adelaide is going to be huge. If we win it, it is possible that we will finish 5th, play Essendon* in week 1, and if we win that, play Collingwood the next week.

And I'm not going to be in the country...sigh.

You've gotta aim higher Siggy.

Why would we want to finish 5th and play a team we've lost to in our last 5 starts?

If we can keep our shit together against Sydney and break the 10 year hoodoo, and win the 8 point games against the Pies and Adelaide, then we can finish 4th, roll a complacent Saints in the 1st Qualifying final putting them into the Cats' half the draw, and go straight to the Prelim with a week off.
