I will take it a step further for you J & the k and say i am prepared to drop this one if it means a message has been sent and its a new beginning or the end for some of Carltons more senior players.

should be a fun game to watch. i am really looking forward to it.

Go Blues !

We have to run run run after we win the ball first first first.

Depth is an issue.

Apart from the peripheral (developing) players selected and discussed Johnson, Bentley and Russell, there;s a few others who are also developing such as Garlett, Austin, Armfield, Joseph, Hampson and I would also add Grigg.

Add peripheral player in Fisher and we have a rather inexperienced and unproven line up. Sure I have faith in Joseph, Austin, Hampson, Armfield, Grigg and Garlett, but they are still developing. So this week is going to be tough on the big Subiaco ground against a team familiar with the ground's dimensions.

We have to get the nut first and run. Sure we will be disadvantaged in the ruck against Sandilands and this is the game wher Hammer and Kreuzer will need to do more around the ground and in front of goals to have the better of this duel.

Lets look at who will shark the ball after the ruckmen do their thing:

Judd: say no more, but have to say elite runner
Carrazzo: great to have a strong ball player in the guts (ball magnet) and fantastic endurance
Murphy: great runner and good at the contest
Gibbs: great footy brain and playmaker
Simmo: gut runner and in form
Betts: in the guts will win a few of the 50/50contests. Expect him forward more.
Joseph: great tagger and endurance runner. Hope he tags Haselby.

At our disposal is Grigg, Russell Amfield and Bentley to throw into the middle too. Johnson and Armfield will release Grigg and Russell from backline if needed.

Now that doesn't look too suspect. Johnson must bring his A game to Freo or he will be quickly discarded. His kicking is his weapon, but he needs to bring more than that one dimensional part in his game. He has shown signs of run and good marking against similar sized players so I expect a good game from him (or good bye).

My guess is that Bentley will try and be the in and under player as we view Bentick and Hadley's roles. It may come off. The Hawks game for him will be inspiration to rid himself of fumbles, and lets face it, Bentley has done consistently well in the Ants, as has Anderson to deserve a recall.

Remember who and how many we have on the sidelines:

Bower, Waite, Walker, Warnock (well there's the HB line and the first ruck)
Robinson and Jacobs who could just about break into this team with all the outs and axed players.

With Jamison as our rock at FB and Thornton as CHB I think that should give us confidence down back. They will have great support from Austin, Grigg and Russell.

Forwards will determine how we go. Fev, Houla, Fisher and Setanta have to fire. Have to.
Betts and Garlett have to kick a few too as well as open up the forwardline with more movement than last week and plenty of forward pressure.

Blues have to win......14 points. That'll do me, althougn I would prefer 10 goal win.

Good luck to the Bluebagger family

I said it before the Essendon* game and I'll say it again before this one.
If Ratts wants to carry the footy and turn this into a footrace, we'll lose.
We have to possess the footy and control the tempo. We have to get it first. Sandilands will get his hands on it first. The only thing good about that is he doesn't hit it to their advantage as much as he should. Last week it was 50 odd handballs and about 17 to advantage.
Last time we played them, he killed us but we got more clearances.
Still lost.
Setanta down front without Fev trying to put him into a wheelchair is good.
Hope the 'ins' do well, regardless of who they are or their exposed form. Footy is about taking your opportunity when it comes along.
Garlett needs to take the game on and not try and dish it off to 'senior' players.
They run the footy from half back and always beat us that way so we just have to play keepings off with it. By foot!

I know there was always going to be a response from the MC to last week's game, but there is a wiff of knee-jerk about the selections this week IMO...

Good luck to Bentley & Johnno - but I think I'd rather have Scotland and/or Hadley in the side ahead of either or both of them. I'd like to see another experienced player in that team.

Dropping Stevo & Banno was fair enough IMO, but Scotland was one too many IMO.

Anyway, I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Go Blues!!

Carltron cannot beat Fremantle(even without Pavlich) with the team selected HOULAHAN in SCOTLAND OUT this is Kerhahan's and Ratten"s worst selected team for the season and is a kneejerk reaction to Carlton's pathetic second half against Essendon*

Carltron may not be able to, but Carlton certainly can.

Love the enthusiasm Bondi. I am still having trouble getting past last weeks effort.
I think dropping Browne and Scotland was a mistake for this game and we should have included Anderson.
At the start of the season it looked like our depth was fantastic but is now looking a little thin.

I agree with your ins and outs, but I think that our list looks thin only because a few are down on form at the moment.

The Friday Oracle (on saturday) says:
Hoops will kick 3 goals
Fev will kick 5 goals
Garlett will kick 2 goals.
The end result is misty.....

If Fev doesn't perform..in fact if he's not downright heroic, then he should be dropped.

I get the feeling that there are several 'cheer leaders' on here that want us to lose,

Still feeling the effects of 2002??? you cannot be serious.

try feeling the effects of senior players who aren't prepared to do the hard things on the field and lead the way for our kids and a coach who is simply not up to the standard required.

Look at Collingwood tonight. smashed the team that made us look foolish a week ago. why? 1. every player was 100% committed and their leaders did exactly that... lead. and 2. because they had a coach that was able to identify how to beat Essendon* and coach his players to carry out those instructions.

Heard a Collingwood player on the radio earlier today and was asked about how they beat Essendon*. Said that they shut down the corridor and put pressure on them. Its not rocket science, ,maybe Ratten thinks too much when it shoud be a lot simpler.
