Whispers I'm hearing are

Cloke IN
Setanta OUT [injured]

Try not to go into melt down people.

An inexperienced team going to WA to play an inexperienced team in Freo is very different to the experinced team playing Adelaide.

Not entirely sure what's going on with these selection policies. We drop some people for poor performances but it has a bit of a shifting deckchairs on the titanic feel to it.

Round 1 (and the whole of preseason) we had a forward set-up of Fev, Cloke, Garlett, Betts with Wiggins and Russell as the high half forwards. Within 10 weeks the whole set-up has changed and now I'm not really sure even the coach knows who is in our best team at the moment ... that's the worrying part.

Stevens was awful last week and probably deserves to go although people forget he was great against the Saints the week before, ditto Browne. Because Stevens was played at half back, Scotland didn't have a role to play and he now pays the price. With all these changes I'm not sure who will play as a rebounder off the half back line given we also lose some of Bower's run and carry. Johnson must play.

And for those calling for Houlas to be dropped (yawn), he's been given the role as a tagging forward and done it perfectly. Fisher was well hedl against the Saints and Dempsey didn't get near it for the whole night even though we got destroyed. Better conversion and he would have been in our best players. Can't see a Russell, Wiggins or Bannister having better conversion though.

I think I'd rather give David Cloke a run.

You expect run and carry from Johnson? Do you expect him to defend as well? Would be nice, but its a pipe dream. I can see him looking elegant when he takes the kick out but thats about all.

Edit : apologies, this wasn't meant to be personal.

I would have thought that Grigg would be a good option for a rebounding defender to run and carry out of defence ???

So looks like our policy of not taking 'inexperienced' players and a young team interstate has gone out the window (until Monday). Seems it was just an excuse...........

Policies on the run by a coach treading water. Selections/omissions using 39 pingpong balls and a second hand ozlotto machine. FFS, stand for something Ratts.

I wrote this above but it does apply to this post..................

An inexperienced team going to WA to play an inexperienced team in Freo is very different to the experienced team we played against in Adelaide.

 I made some slight changes to the second post, which theoretically means that it's not a repeated post per se. :smoking:

What is wrong with the above sentence?
Oh yeah,it should read 'I really think Scotland should have stayed in over Russell.'

Unless Scotland had other stuff going on besides form, I don't think he should have been dropped.

Just hope Juddy gets some increased support from his team mates this week.

He won the Hawks a grandfinal, so no.

Steve won the pie eating contest but only after lance left the building

So if Stevo wins some important matches off his own boot, then it doesn't matter if he has Andrew Demetriou's physique?

Again we go in with a slow forward line against a running machine Freo at a huge wide ground.

Fevola, Cloke, Fisher and Houlihan as our key forwards.

That makes him a winner in my book  .

Still happy he's not playing though.

No. Do you see how Dew goes about his footy even being overweight? He is double the size of Stevo but his efforts outweigh (pardon the pun) those of nick stevens.

Jordan Russell gets crucified on this when a bloke like Stevens continually returns to the club over weight, doesn't put in the extra sessions, is the first to leave the track but you can't deny his efforts at the bar.

Russell gives it his all and thats what we ask of him.

And so far that has not been good enough.
