The point of my post was to make a comment about the hysteria that seems to accompany any loss we have. This week we have had 'serious' questions raised on everybody associated with the club except for the bootstudder. I have no problem with reasoned discussion, anybody reading Talking Stuff would know, but hysteria, please. It has gotten to the point in recent times that even in the 'real' world I don't even reveal who I follow even to other Carlton supporters simply because I have to put up with a tirade of what could be termed abuse regarding the club. Its tiresome.
I have been around long enough to know that losing is a major part of sport and that the lesson of sport is about how to lose well and then build toward what is often fleeting success. I have been lucky to have significant success in three different sports but to have that success I had to lose a lot, in one sport a hell of a lot. The major lesson I learnt was not to freak out when I suffered a major setback, but simply to work harder and smarter, in fact I became even more determined. I also made sure I had good people around me, a adaptable plan with short term goalsets. This is what I see happening at the club, we are taking small steps toward succes. I have no doubt some players and officals won't be around for the long haul, but we will get there, any other mindset is unacceptable.
Mick Malthouse once said, "The Ox is slow bit that earth is patient" many missed what he meant, but those who have played a lot of sport, knew exactly what he was saying.
People can rant and rave thats their choice, personally I am enjoying the journey, dissappointments included.
Fantastic post and my POTW
