Scotto is a bit unlucky but like others have said it's probably due to the limited pre-season. Still needed.

What has JR done to be recalled and Straight into the line up?

Ratts is just reacting to the media and trying to prove himself....Scotland was in awesome form just 2 weeks a go, and Stevens hasnt been bad all year as some people Claim....

The Sad thing about these two going out is that it will Strip Carlton of possesions and means that JUDD has to do it all with 40+ for us to win...

Stevens at his Worst still managed 21+, YET Russell at his best can only manage 15 and averages just over 10.

Dumping Two of your play makers just to make a point is naive and dumb.

how do you justify the Selection of Bently , Cloke and co? and dropping Browne whom only 2 weeks a go against the Saints was showing signs of taking it to the next level up?

Stevens would have thrived on Subiaco.....so would Scotland....

My version..

The media wielded the axe early in the week with I think it was Mike Sheahan suggesting Brett Ratten was under pressure and the MC and Ratten did what Mike told them including the same players he mentioned.
My point ..is it a one off or will Ratten continue to show the same authority or is it only when the media ie Sheahan tell him to....

The suggestions early in the week about senior players being dropped came at the direction of the coach I would think, as it does at all clubs.

MC may have been a bit knee jerk but at least had the conviction to drop some senior players - imagine the reaction if they did nothing - damned if you do damned if you dont !!!!!!!

Browne who I like was particularly bad last week and seemed mentally gone - evidenced by ridiculous push in the back to Essendon* player near the end of the game when he didnt mark it - maybe mentally needs a rest - he will be back and better for the experience

I think both Kreuz and hammer are both getting tired both physically and mentally too

Scotland a touch unlikely and stevens maybe too but perhaps the view is that they dont fit the game style if they are not hard enough at the ball

Russell has done his penance and his pace is important if stevens scotland and browne are out

Give it a rest about depth -still havent got waite bower walker warnock jacobs -with the first 4 walk up starts in this team - bentick isnt ready yet after being injured most of the year and robinson is suspended - if it was Hawthorn spinning it they would be saying 7 of their best players are injured - two walker and warnock havent played yet this year

So you're accusing Mike Sheehan of being reactive? :sly:

Well no, it would have been the PERFECT opportunity to make a statement that Fev is not bigger than the club, no matter how much of a walk up started he THINKS he is ............

Hope Fev has been given a suspended sentence - a repeat of that means automatic exclusion from the selected team. CSC reports that Pagan was not allowed to drop Fev. If so, it seems likely the directive came from a higher level through Sticks. Now there is no higher level and the buck stops with Sticks. GO STICKS...
Let's wait and see if Fevola actually plays on Sunday

I reckon had Waite been available they may have had the balls to drop him.

Very good point J&theK.

By the way this new rule forcing us to chop out quotes is a bigger outrage than closing Talking Players :donk:

I live for getting quoted.

Loving how someone has a stab at whats happening, it gets repeated and then becomes a set in stone fact:

Fev wanted to injure/kill Santy
Fev has his own PR company to pressure the MC into selecting him
Rats does what Sheahan tells him to
All the players are pissed off that Fev hasn't been dropped

Things may not be ideal at times, but why make shit up?

I am with the mods on quote chopping. Excellent idea ! Half page quotation for single line contribution, is waste of bandwidth

Well done MC on making a statement that soft football is not acceptable
Unfortunately the extended bench replaces soft footballers with footballers that lack ability
Hopefully the recruiting department can fill the holes and continue building the list

Pagan dropped Fevola in 2007. Pratt was president. Pagan never coached Carlton when Kernahan was president. Your information is seriously flawed.

Does anyone think that there may have been a mixture of making a statement/list management with the selections this week ??? We have a trip to WA and then a 6 day turn around for the Richmond game. Richmond would prob be seen as a bigger priority game for the club, and everyone knows it takes a while to recover from a trip to WA (6 days is shocking). SO why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone, drop some senior players who we can "hopefully" do without for a game against a further weakened Freo team after Pav went down with an injury while keeping some players fresh for the Richmond game the following week. Send a message to the players while maintaining some for the following week.

Good move if we win this week. Bad move if we get ahead of ourselves and lose again ...........

Freo are obviously "playing the kids" but they gave the mighty Cats a huge fright 2 weeks ago - we'll have to play well to win

Apposed to Carlton who 2 games ago had a shot on goal against St. Kilda with 2 minutes to go to take the lead ???

Verbs you've seriously misinterpreted what was said. It was conjectured that Sticks as Chairman of the MC would pass on directives from higher levels. My remarks were prefaced by "If so" and the source quoted. It was not presented as information but as conjecture (it seems likely).

Billy informed me that Freo have won 10/11 against Carlton and we haven't won at Subi for 8 years FWIW. If we can't beat them without Pav :yikes:
