Would have loved to be a fly on the wall in that assessment.

We had an opportunity in the first quarter against Adelaide to do that, we had an opportunity to do that at half time and three quarter time against Essendon*.

Obviously they made a choice then.

When are we going to have a squad of players who collectively have a bit of ticker about them.

Getting past the excuses stage, why can't we (the club) extract the most out of these guys regularly (surely this isn't their best).

We have guys that don't appear to stand up week week in week out.

Sure some have jobs to do, Joseph, Armfield play with ticker, of course Juddy and Murph stand up and be counted regularly, but even Gibbsy just ain't showing enough for me without being too hard on him.

I don't want to take pot shots, but just want them to put their hands up and start showing they have a bit of you know what about them, we still stand for nothing in terms of respect in the competition, apart from our slogan.

Geelong were in a very similar place only a few seasons ago.

Whispers on 3AW said the axe is being sharpened down at VISY Park with Stevens and Scottland bout to get the chop

A caller summed it up best when he rang 3AW on Saturday and said "Bannister was delisted from Essendon* and 5 years on he's still getting a game for Carlton"

I just want the "best" team on the park week in week out.

In terms of:

a bit of ticker (heart)
prepared to run hard all day long
tackle hard
AFL standard skills (some will be above)
best match ups
backing ourselves in and letting the opposition worry about matching up on us
team player

We are just not hardened enough physically and mentally, and we should be further advanced in that area than we are.

Three plus seasons in the system means you should start to show your worth - I think we just fall short unfortunately.

Scotland = easy target and sacrificial lamb
Fev AND Stevo AND Hoops = making a statement

Let's hope there was some real honesty put forward and the young guys were courageous enough to speak up.

I agree. Scottland missed preseason training, he was mismanaged that he needed surgery half way through the year but because we had the slightest sniff of the finals we took a punt to wait until the end of the year to have him operated on.

Geez I know we are dissapointed and I hate losing to Essendon*, but really, have we turned into Richmond fans?

On Thursday, things were ok at Visy Park. By saturday afternoon, the ground was ready to be set on fire, a truckload of manure was on order, Fev was traded, half our list sacked and Sticks gone.

Bloody Hell!

I thought Connolly's article was spot on.

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/rfnews ... 29438.html

When we flogged the Bulldogs, did they fly into the panic we are now at? were they demanding eade's head? Johnson to be traded?

I'm dissapointed, gutted, I want improvement, I want effort. But really, all Rats fault? Can someone explain how anything done in the coaches box on Friday in the 2nd half would have influenced the fact that man on man we got flogged?

I think we have allowed ourselves to get ahead of just where we are in our improvement.

I agree with Connolly's article too.

I will say, though, that I think Ratts could do with a tactical mentor, Like Voss has with Brittan (Remember, he was considered a master match day tactician). I'd love for Laidley to be in the coaches box with Ratts.

I don't know, but I'd say Brits is more of a day to day managerial assistant to Voss more than anything else.
When you have a position of head coach I think his tactical philosophies are the rule of the day.
It'd be nice to think it could, but I can't see a mix of Ratten and Laidleys philosophies working smoothely together.

Brett Ratten won't want a Dean Laidley or Damien Hardwick sitting next to him in he coaches box because they have some idea. You can't have your assistants making sense than your senior coach
