I think we should keep Fev in. Yes I think his defensive efforts were poor but surely he doesn't need to be dropped to have that corrected. With some decent supply he'll do his job this week.
I think his performance on his mate Tarrant last time should embarrass him into a decent performance this time round.

I'm a big supporter of Stevens but he needs a spell in the two's.

Personallly I think it's time to move on from Bannister. He wont be in our next flag (whenever that is). He's serviceable but we need more than that.

I think Sandilands going forward may be a problem for us. But the upside is Pavlich will be sitting it out.

I'll be at the game and I'm expecting the Blues to come out smoking. Hope I'm right. :smoking:

Now leaning towards seeing Anderson Ellard Hartlett Thornton in for Bower Houlihan Stevens and Fisher (unless Fev is injured or Thornton doesn't come up in which case Fish gets a reprieve). If neither Thornton or Fevola can come up then we need to find another body. Don't want anyone slow or who butchers the ball, which limits things. Probably go for Garlett who was stiff to be dropped last week ahead of Garlett.

I'd like to see Armfield tried as a defensive forward - he has the pace and it wouldn't expose his disposal as much. Risk is he'll butcher some chances at goal. Carrazzo head to head with Hasleby. Still like Princes pArk Whistler's idea of Juddy up forward at least as a start of game surprise.

So

Browne Jamison Austin
Joseph Thornton* Scotland
Simpson Carrazzo Grigg
Armfield O'hAilpin Judd
Kreuzer Fevola* Betts
Hampson Gibbs Murphy
Anderson Bannister Ellard Hartlett
Emerg Fisher Garlett Johnson // Houlihan Yarran

How some people are taking aim at Armfield puzzles me. I read in the age today that Browne is under fire and could be dropped. These two are kids in there third years and still developing.

These two try there guts (and i'll add Russell to this) They all have the hunger to succeed. There minds haven't been polluted from the past and are the future of this club

Why not take aim at the fat lazy slob in Nick Stevens, the hair stylist in Rhyannan Houlihan, Jordan 'gee even Kevin sheedy thought i was a dud' Bannister.

Fev did not train (Ch 7 say he may not play due to an onkaparinga operation)
Bower did not train
Hartlett was in the rehab group with Murphy, Carlos, Jacobs, Hampson & Browne.
Thornton trained with the main group & looked OK

From what I have seen of the Ants, there is no way Johnson, Hadley, Edwards or Cloke would get a trip to Perth

I've heard they're going to randomly select someone from TC.

Any takers?

I reckon we should try and simplifiy our tactics this week. Instead of using two thirds of our team as taggers, I suggest we simply tag nobody and just play to win for a change.

Fisher is not going to be dropped. On Saturday on 3AW when asked who he thought were our best players against Essendon*, Ratten replied "Betts and Fisher". This was also pointed out in the summary of the Ratten interview in another thread. So the MC were obviously content with Fisher's performance. So I think we can be fairly certain that, barring injury, he will play.

It puzzles me when i hear stuff like that.
I then wonder what Ratts watches in players in games.

Fish cant hurt the opposition ... he is not potent...he is slow.. and his defensive side is non existent.

Sticky fingers though.....but that isnt enough...

YAWN!

Richmond won the flag in 1980 .... and im pretty sure there were people that supported Richmond at around 1989 that were thinking the same way as you...

People that knew nothing but Richmond success.. and thought that premierships were like like Sea Monkeys...just add water ....

Alas theyre rebuilding again for like the 6th or 7th time...

.. thats because they fell into a hole and kept doing the same things over and over again...wrong things mind you....all because they believed cos they used to be able to do it.. they could still do it again...

... youd have to think they would like their time back again .... and make different choices...

............... doesnt take long...

..... it just takes faulty decisions... and near sightedness.. and not being fluid and dynamic to evolve in a positive way into the future..

Disagree with some comments about this being a season defining game.
Think we have had about 3 of those already...... and lost each one.
I still think we have a good draw coming home and expect to make the 8.

Freo were in the game against Collingwood up to their ears for a long time
the end scoreline is deceptive as they clearly put up the white flag in the
last quarter. The 2 reasons they were challenging the Pies were called
Sandilands and Haselby. How can we combat a 7 foot 13 inch ruckman who
just has to be in the vicinity to win the tap and ALWAYS kicks goals when he
rests up forward. God help our backs if Jamo does have shoulder problems
still and Thornton will need a stepladder. Haselby is genuine A grade when he
is "on" and must be their main shut down focus. As opposed to last week's
overkill negative tactics, would throw Joseph on him and let the rest do their thing.
Which still leaves the Sandilands problem.
Only hope is for our onballers to expect him to knock it their way etc.
Collingwood did this to great effect endlessly last week.

Dont forget too this "mob" pushed Geelong all the way over their the week before.
Admittedly not having Pavlich there is a bonus for us, but you watch some no name
will pop up and have his best game for the year....against us of course.

Actually think we have more chance this week if Fevola doesnt play, for one reason
or the other, then we have to be smarter in our forward line delivery.
Someone mentioned trying Hartlett.
FFS spare me, he is mutton and barely a VFL standard player most weeks !!!
Expect Houlihan to be replaced by Garlett.
Stevens ? Well thats the real juicy one isnt it.
I doubt they have grown in the testicles department to drop him, they should though.
One from left field, i dont think they will need both Kreuzer and Hampson so would just
rest the latter, just for this week though. May sound like a concession to Sandilands
but fair dinkum he will get 40+ knockouts anyway, he would against Superman.

Also think a lot revolves around where they decide to play Mcpharlin and Tarrant.
Doubt they will both be in the backline. Headland was their most damaging forward
and hopefully he couldnt do that 2 weeks in a row.
However if Fev does play its a monty Tarrant will go to him.
So who kicks our goals ? Dunno, but if anyone out there does, then im sure Ratts
would appreciate a quick call or a short email ?

For the above listed reasons, i have done something this week that i have never, EVER
done in my entire life. After watching the Blues for more than 45 years, i have put some
of my hard earned $ on Carlton's opposition. Incredibly Freo are not even favourites.
Freo are $3.0 for under 39 points, and $9.0 for over 39.
I will gladly lose my bets and prefer Blues to shit in, but i just done think it will happen.

I dont know about line in the sand games, or when Jesus was carrying me, the sand only
had one set of footprints..... but we have to stop the SAND ilands !!

Cmon Blues, do it for all us knockers and pot shot takers !

There is a lot of Blues fans here in Perth. We only get one chance to see the boys play over here. They better put in a better performance than last week or other interstate games we have played this year (I was at the Crows game......).

I'm in, but I want:
Business/First class fights to and from Sydney.
Executive transfers to and from the airport
My own massage therapist (female)
Enough match time to get on TV, but not so much that I get too tired.
A fawning pack of (female) admirers squealing and screaming for me at all times.
New footy boots
2 x full match kit (one to be signed and auctioned off, proceeds to go to the charity of my choice)
Ratts to give me a glowing critique in the post-match press conference.
Fev/Judd/Smurph to give me a huge wrap in the on-field after-match cross to the boundary rider.

Oh, yeah....

2x Match balls (1 to be auctioned off and the proceeds to be given to the charity of my choice)
A bowl of no less than 3 litres volume, filled with ONLY RED M&Ms.

That's what you meant wasn't it?
