Roos has driven the Swans list off a cliff.
They will be atrocious over the next few years due to his inability to build a balanced, well structured list.
I'd run and hide in the US too if I was him.
But he won a premiership with that list.
Played in two grandfinals.
and consecutive finals series.
at the end of the day its about winning a premiership. WE CAN'T BUY THEM ANYMORE and thats why we are struggling.
We're not struggling. We are sitting 8th on the ladder with a young, dynamic, improving list.
Where's Sydney? 11th on the ladder with the oldest bunch of broken down has beens in the AFL.
Even Roos realises they're screwed, thats why he's sooking to the AFL to bail them out.
No thanks.
And a premiership and consecutive finals appearances. We have 3 wooden spoons and 3 number 1 draft picks
You got no idea if you think Paul Roos can't coach. Teams go up, they go down and come back up again. They've
had a great runAnd for 1 Premiership.
Regardless of consecutive GF appearances, they have won one Premiership. That's all that counts at the end of the day.
If you are happy with winning one Premiership, then good for you because I can guarantee you if that record of 2 Granny appearances and one Premiership was Brett Ratten's you will say that we have failed.
Unbelievable. I don't know about anyone else but right now I'd guess we're a 30-40% chance of a flag in the next 7 years. If Ratts wins a flag he'll have been a success full stop. Our list is promising but has significant flaws with no obvious sure-fire remedy. To get it over the line for a flag will be an enormous achievement and requires that the coach gets the best out of the players, along with luck, excellent recruiting, improved culture, facilities yada yada.
We can argue that Essendon*, Port and perhaps Geelong (depending on what happens this year) underperformed given the dominance those sides enjoyed during the home and away season. Are you expecting Carlton to win 85% of their H&A matches over a 3 year period? Ess won 85% in 99-01, Port won 80% in 02-04, Cats 91% in 07-09. Those teams had earned the right to be disappointed that they didn't win more than 1 flag. The last time prior to Essendon* that a team won over 80% of the H&A matches over a 3 year period was Hawthorn with 83% 87-89 - one of the all time great teams.
On what basis do we have the right to expect that Carlton will match these "failures" let alone surpass them? Or do you expect we can do an Adelaide (one of the more remarkable finals doubles in history) and run over better performed teams twice in a row?
We're a reasonable chance to win a flag if we do things right. More than that would be a dream come true. To say "2 flags is par" is blind arrogance of the sort that has made us the worst team of the decade. If you want more of the same you should hope Carlton has learned nothing.
