Your whinging about comments concerning Elliott is hard to understand, BS. If Elliott wants to sue me, he merely needs to PM me and I'll give him my details. I'll even put up $5 up front. That should cover any damage to his reputation, given that you have to have a good reputation to lose. He can keep the change (the $4.99, that is).

But he should think twice about suing. Fair comment and truth are both defences to a libel action. And I reckon they cover me pretty well.

If he were just some random guy, then perhaps the stacks-on approach would be inappropriate. But that isn't the case. He's been clothed by the Club as a man of influence at the club. That has to end. Once the club puts an end to that and wipes its hands of him once and for all, then it can blow over. But not until then. It's a disgrace that he is connected to the club at the highest level. While he is, he'll be a constant threat to our good name. The former players (including those on the Board) also have to understand that he's too dangerous for them to know. They are best advised to cut their ties for their own good. You wouldn't walk around with a rattlesnake in your pocket, and that's less dangerous than knowing Elliott.

The fact that Kouta Bucks and Ange would be even associated with Elliot on a footy show says a lot for their own stupidity and their egos because Elliot has always courted controversy.

In some ways it is worse that Kouta comes on the footy shows and squirms his way back into the good books.

Dont forget this guy wrote a book for his own personal gain bagging the shit out of people associated with the club when we were trying to move on from the horrors of the past.
Why is that any different to what Elliots done.

The mods should put a lock on this thread and lets move on tonight and the future

Anyone that feels the need to stick up for John Elliot should really leave this forum and join the JDElliotreport .

Let's not forget that Jack argued full on against going to Docklands, saying we would suffer in the long term, and that we should go to the MCG. He was right there and Collo let us down with his conflict of interest.

I thought Sam's speech on the footy show was a classic. I was watching his eyes looking for movement that would signify use of a teleprompter but it looked like he had actually memorized the quote. Not bad at all if that were the case. One thing about Sam. He has the balls to say stuff like that in the public eye and doesn't hide behind the anonymity of a computer keyboard and a pseudonym like those getting stuck into Jack here.

There's nothing being said about Jack which is a rumour, or slanderous.

He IS a turd.

He IS egotistical.

He DID put his own publicity ahead of the good of the Club he's supposed to love.

He IS an arsehole.

Well said.

Someone at the Club should have read the parable of the frog and the scorpion.

JDE is the scorpion.

I'd rather hear John Elliot say 'we threw away money paying Ratts as a senior coach'

I thought the purpose of quoting a post was to refer to something written in it.
That's obviously not the case or you would have done it.

That's just gutless and the mods are allowing it in contravention of their own new posting rules.

I was referring to your last comment about the mods being gutless by not deleting posts or threads which breach guidelines.

You were definitely inferring that there was something about this thread which breached guidelines. IMO it didn't. As I pointed out.

Your position is weak if you're now resorting to attacking my use of a single comma.

You haven't been able to refute one single thing in this thread, and you're being somewhat blinded by some admiration of Elliott. A misguided one, if you ask me, but I guess we're all individuals.

BS and Indie, I have snipped way too much before even having breakfast.

Please discuss the topic and leave the sarcasm out of it.

Mark MacLure was asked about Jack Elliot on 774 prior to yesterday's Collingwood-Freo game.

Sellers is involved in the "Spirit of Carlton" movement which had cancelled Elliot's guest speaking role for Friday's lunch.

Paraphrasing his comments -

Jack has only ever worried about himself....

he has ruined everything he has touched; relationships, companies and football clubs.....

at least now everyone knows what I (MacLure) have always known "Jack Elliot is a moron".

Makes you wonder how they got on when Elliot was Prez and Sellers Captain in 85/86 (?).

I heard that to KKK.

Maybe someone could come up with a dance remix and it become the clubs new theme song

Caro saying on FC that the club are looking at trying to remove Elliott's life membership.

Sticks also told him not to come to any Carlton games/functions for the rest of the year.

I hope they succeed with this, i don't want that piece of filth associated with the club in any way, shape or form.

"The game's response to the hush-money claim seems to have been largely to denigrate the man — an AFL life member — who made it. The discrediting of Elliott could be seen to have been a higher priority than the search for the truth." Tim Lane

Here too.
