I want to know what he is going to do about this? It is easy to spot it...we are yet to see any solution.

'Embarrassing' Blues must regroup (AFL Site)

“That will test out our mental approach next week and how we bounce back. Sometimes you fall, but it’s how high you bounce back and I think for some of our blokes, that’s the opportunity.”

I'm getting bloody sick of all these 'opportunities'.

Get Laidley

He would work wonders with our list considering what he did with that rabble.

Just imagine if we were Judderless.

Judd would always be my first pick in the side but I'm doubting his ability as an OFF FIELD captain. Can't see him giving it to the players as he should....

Unfortunately we are stuck with a coach who is not up to it for another 2 years (gee we are a dumb club....you would think we would have learnt from the DP extension) so Judd needs to step up and earn some of those $$$$

Its been said that Laidley is fantastic at analysing the opposition and making tactical moves to cancel out the oppositions best attributes.

That would leave Ratts with nothing to do, I mean that is his game plan isn't it?

Laidley isnt considered for a job at Carlton from what i understand...

.... Ratts wants to go it alone...

... hes bring us back "that old Carlton something or rather"... forget about skills.. tactics... structures... gameplans...understanding of the modern game...

Love how we hold the ball aloft to slow it down.. in a typical Ratts "We have the ball they dont.. so they cant score if they dont have the ball"... only to chip chip chip... mistake turnover... goal to the opposition.. OR its the other route... hold the ball aloft... chip... stop... and boot the @#$%&! out of the ball to noone in particular as everybody is covered...

Happens alot in the genius Ratts gameplan...

Ratts is 4 years behind modern day coaching...

There was just no run whatsoever and about 10 players showed no heart. Fumbling was terrible.

We refused to go out there and hit a few bodies.

I don't care if we have players suspended after every Essendon* match but we need to go out there and injure some blokes, show some intent, show some character. Tonight was ridiculous.

Don't get me started on the umpiring though.

Stevens for a supposed top-line midfielder is finished. His disposal is no longer crisp which means his weapons are all blunt. His defensive pressure is appalling and whoever said that if we were serious, we'd drop him after tonight, is correct.

We lost the game mentally tonight - and with the mind comes the body. Mens sana corpore sano.

The strut

That's Elliott era bullshit.

Good teams have "the strut". "The strut" doesn't make you a good team.

Poor effort by all concerned. The players should be ashamed of themselves losing to our Arch rival in such insipid fashion. But really Ratts needs to take a hard look at himself and his inability to get the most out of this team. His inability to produce any sign of a possibility of consistency has now reached the level of remarkable.

We are in real danger here. The next few weeks will define our season. And I'm not talking about finals.

We are in danger of not improving on the ground we made up last year.

We need to win 4 of the last 9 just to match the number of wins. We have benefited hugely with who we play twice. That will not happen again.

After 2 full years as senior coach Ratten has not developed a consistent and useable gameplan. After 2 years we have no plan from defence, we still bomb the ball into the forward line and our ability to take the game on and play direct football is haphazard.

We have no idea how to open the game up and we rarely kick the ball to the advantage of a leading player.

We do not like body contact with the opposition choosing instead to "zone-off"". This has become so farcical that the opposition countlessly can run freely from our forward line and turn this into attack.

We have no plan to protect our play-makers such as Judd, Murphy and Gibbs, choosing instead to see them mauled consistently by their opposition taggers.

Alarmingly, the skills of some of our players is just appalling by hand and foot. Bower, for all his improvement this year has deplorable hand skills, Murphy kicks helicopters continuously and our kicking for goal from set shots has cost us badly in 3 games at least (that's not unlucky, that's poor skills showing up under pressure)

We need to get more from our ruckmen. I know we have injuries to Warnock and Jacobs, but Hampson does very little around the ground. He needs to use his body far more to protect our smaller players after ruck duels. As for Krueze, well he is just being wasted as our main ruckmen. If we are going to play the Irishman, he should be getting in there until Warnock or Jacobs are ready.

We have major problems with the entire structure of the team. Ratts has 9 weeks to do something with this side and a couple of his comments after the game alarmed me. The "we'll learn from that" statement is too easily dropped by him. He needs to learn and very quickly.

This team relies far too heavily on 6 players - Judd, Murphy Gibbs, Kruezer, Fevola and Waite. One is gone for the season and that is a terrible shame. My concern is that the remaining 16 are not consistently stepping up. And no excuses for development there, because many of those 16 are seasoned players.

Yep both Stevens and Houlihan must be dropped.....their time is up.
Everytime it was their turn to go it would end up with the opposition.

I don't particularily care about anything except how a professional sporting club can go from 14pts up to a 69pt loss in basically a half of football.

I think we have a more unerlying issue inside the playimg group, a fallout or dispute maybe?

I just can't take a 14 goal hiding in a half, Ratten needs to come up with more than seeing how we bounce back.
