Totally. He plays one poor game (as a 19yo rookie FFS) and Ratts drops him. The mindset from Ratts & co. is so conservative its a joke. No wonder Knights has the Bummers miles ahead of us.

He is finished. He is going backwards with his output. Granted it may be better than a few others in our best 22, but not much.... Nothing more to offer.

They thought after taking Stkilda to the wire they could just walk in and take this

disgusting effort

He must learn that the more close losses you have doesn't mean you are getting closer to a win it means you are getting closer to a flogging - Well it happened tonight

I agree definetaly time for a spell in the twos make him realise he actually has to go in and get his own ball and play with hunger, its not about getting 30 cheap touches

Sorry, but Ando and Harts have had 4 years to develop.

Sick of hearing we are a developing side. That's just a poor excuse for poor skills, poor judgement and poor coaching.

Our "developing" side will be overtaken very quickly if the MC keep believing that.

Exactly - I looked through our list and saw squat that can help us short term. Maybe walker, Waite and Warnock - but not til 2010.

We might scrape in with a good run home, but we won't last long based on tonight's effort.

Agree. They thought that pushing the Aints was as good as a win. Ratten has been talking pre-game all year about the importance of breaking hoodoos etc. This playing group obviously don't respond too well to this type of motivation ??? Maybe he'll just shut up and coach from now on ?

Essendon* remind me of Geelong as an up and coming side.

We are much like St Kilda were five years ago.

Cam we write to the AFL and get them to cancel the rest of our games? That would be soooo sweet. No more footy for 2009! Heaven!

Actually, I wouldn't mind. This season was always 'tread water' time.

We are the most vulnerable side in psychological terms in the comp and we won't be ready to perform on the big stage until something changes n the mix. I hope it is all done with a scalpel rather than a sledge hammer because we want to get it done right.

Never been the same since he done his neck and won't get many hard balls. Maybe time for a change there. There's others maybe who can do the job better. Either that or try him forward where we can use his skills. Something different at least.

First time I really recall us dropping our bundle completely under Ratten. We've always at least fought back when in trouble, win or lose. Even the Adelaide game, when we didn't score until half time, we at least got a near 10 goal margin back to 4 goals until they got a couple of late ones.

Ok, we have two ways to deal with this.

Vent, rip, tear, self-implode

Or learn.

We have the cattle to consistently beat Essendon* but continuoulsy fail. Talents there, tho game plan, match day execution, match up leave a lot to be desired.

Ratten needs serious help in the coaching box, we should be looking to appoint a Laidley type experienced senior coach as director of coaching to give Ratten & the assistant coaches, development coaches direction, guidance, and advice. IMO too much is left to Ratten and he is not up to it just yet ! Also should review assistant coaches panel, especially the roles of Lappin and Taegue.

Is it too late to TANK !!!!!!

Actually, instead of tanking for a No 1 draft pick, is it possible to tank for a another coach ?????

Can't put in that kind of intensity and that little concentration and expect to win a football game.

That's where all the problems start and finish. That needs to change now. Not tomorrow, not next week, in a month, a year or through turning over the list. Needs to happen now.

It's a professional sport.

Either way will probably help us better in the long run than pretending it didn't happen.

they say "everyone makes mistakes...but only dumb people make the same mistake again"

what does that make brett ratten ? DUMBER AND DUMBER !!!!!!!!!!!!

he has now coached against Essendon* 5 times and lost the same way every time....we huff and puff along the boundary, kicking to one on one contests in row 8...while we leave the corrdior open for them to attack the heart of our defence !

Let me pose a few questions:

1. why do we refuse to use the corridor at all costs ?

2. why do we constantly take the longest route forward hugging the boundary line and hence limiting the direction of our attacking thrust?

3. why do we still have no kick out strategy ?

4. why do we not flood back and fill out space in our defensive 50's like other teams do to us ? (In the first half both monfries and lucas found space despite us having 15 players back - unacceptable !)

5. why do we always end up having set shots for goal from row 8 of the grandstand (houla, fev, judd, etc etc) ?

6. why did rats not make the statement that had to be made in the 3rd quarter by not dragging fev (and I am a fev fan and have somew sympathy from him ....but consistency in his efforts are required - his chase in the 1st or second on reimers was brilliant but cannot be a once off !) ???

7. Given our current list, are we fuliflling our potential ?

7. do you honestly think that brett ratten has what it takes to coach Carlton to a premiership ?

I just hope that the people who count at out club are trying to work out the answers to these questions....and when they do, are not afraid to act accordingly !

I'll ask again....if brett can't work out the answers himself, for the sake of the club rats undoubtedly loves, please fall on your own sword and allow this group to reach their potential ....whatever that is !
