Makes it pretty hard when Greg Swann has to enter talks with Malaysian Tourism about extending our one year deal. An ex President suggesting that the club was full of rapists whose victims had to be bought-off isn't the kind of culture a sponsor is particularly keen to associate itself with.

JE probably thinks that all publicity is good publicity, but I think he's finding out that there's "controversy" (Sam Newman, Gordon Ramsay) and then there's "controversy".

Foolish man. Channel 31 should, and will probably have to, pull the pin on his show now.

Emails were sent out last night confirming his withdrawal from the event.

It's good to see the past players group doing the right thing.

They pulled the pin on him after about 40 corporates spat the dummy and are now not going to the event. Val perovic is coming instead. They had 150 booked now they have only 90. The past players have hit the roof, and from what i have heard they want nothing to do with him.

Does that include Kouta Ang and Bucks?

Channel 7 reporting Kouta has cut all ties with Elliott.

im certaintly not defending elliot. as i think what he has done is shithouse.

but more so, i just dont understand the fascincation.

its old news, this isnt a new news story. and while i sympathise completly with the ladies in question, is there any benefit to any of them.

this si where i say, that the media, has no moral compass and are as much to blame in this as anyone. in an adverse way, the topic in which elliot was discussing has in a way been proven completly 100% here.

its an old story, it has been investigated, unfortunately for the lass in question, nothing has eventuated from it, as is the case alot in such crimes (very hard to prove)

is there any benefit in raising the issue now, or to continue to run with it?

yes, elliot is a dead set plonker for bringing it up, but so is the medai for contining to further the story.

trial by media anyone?

Well said, SS.

The thing which makes me so angry is that Elliott KNEW that it would cause a frenzy of media attention. He's too much of an old hand to not know.

I think this may be indeed his Waterloo. Caused by his own hubris.

Dunno if anyone caught Kouta on the show tonight, he managed to get caught up in all this by being associated with Elliot on their channel 31 footy show. He spoke well on the footy show tonight with an interview with Hutchy. Good on him

As for Elliot, Sam Newman shut him down pretty hard with a big serving. Couldn't agree with more with what Sammy said.

Never blame the media for being the media. Blame Elliot for being a complete and utter [REDACTED], and all those at Carlton who have continued allow him to be associated with the club.

For those who missed Sam Newsman message to John Elliot on the footy show (in very serious manor) basically said John Elliot has his head up his own arse and has done our club harm.

Hutchy said that Eliot Elliot has been exiled from the club for the rest of the year and that the Blues are furious.

Newman used the following quote to chastise Elliott.

John MacAuley
Quote:
That he was a coxcomb and a bore, weak, vain, pushing, curious,
garrulous, was obvious to all who were acquainted with him. That
he could not reason, that he had no wit, no humour, no eloquence,
is apparent from his writings. Nature had made him a slave and an
idolater. His mind resembles those creepers which the botanists
call parasites, and which can subsist only by clinging round the
stems and imbibing the juices of stronger plants. He must have
fastened himself on somebody.

The bananas of this world think Elliot was a good president and he understands the world.
The guy is a caveman... his judgement was/is poor and the last 15 years has really exposed how backwards he waS/is .
His decisions were so ridiculous they almost killed us.. (staying at Princes Park... not embracing the draft .... not caring about membership.. etc etc etc.. and the fact he can come out and say what he did proves the guy is a buffoon!!!

If we were still playing at PP we'd be much better off financially and would have the whip hand in stadium deals with the entire Melb complement of clubs except Essendon*.

Let's not forget that Jack argued full on against going to Docklands, saying we would suffer in the long term, and that we should go to the MCG. He was right there and Collo let us down with his conflict of interest.

I thought Sam's speech on the footy show was a classic. I was watching his eyes looking for movement that would signify use of a teleprompter but it looked like he had actually memorized the quote. Not bad at all if that were the case. One thing about Sam. He has the balls to say stuff like that in the public eye and doesn't hide behind the anonymity of a computer keyboard and a pseudonym like those getting stuck into Jack here.

It's not just coincidence that he waited till Dick was gone to bring this up.

The man is a self-promoting, egotistical flower who should never be allowed to have anything to do with the Carlton Football Club ever again.
