Bannister on Watson would be a great matchup. I wouldn't drop him this week.

I'd also look at bringing in Robbo/Yarran again for Garlett.

Thornton for Bannister and send Austin forward.

our back six should be,
joseph jamison thornton
bower austin scotland
austin is the key. [frees up bower to carry and run]

controlling the wings,
simpson and stevens.

just outside the forward 50,
o'hailpin kreuzer gartlett.

inside the forward 50,
fevola and betts.

shutdown players,
grigg, carrazzo, armfield, browne and joseph.

conducting the game,
hampson, judd, murphy and gibbs.

hampson to run with ryder all night to free up kreuzer.
watson to have a HARD tag ALL night. [grigg?]
lovett see above. [joseph?]
winderlich see above. [armfield?]
if fletcher is running the ball out of our 50 with ease, o'hailpin to take him out. ['man him up']
monfries to be HARD tagged ALL night. [carrazzo?]
jamison will shut down the velvet sledge hammer!!
bower, austin and thornton will manage the rest. [not much]
will be heart broken if we lose, i hate these filth!!!!

Big game this one.......

Don't let Stanton run alone.. If there was a position for a wide end receiver in our game then this bloke is it. Never gets closer than 20 meters to any stoppages around the ground. He is there get out clause, let Watson get the hardball and farm it out to Stanton all by himself to run into space.

Stop Watson getting clearances, this guy is a work horse, doesn't kick much but sets up heaps by hand, very diesel like.

Rucks will be interesting.

Fev will be blocked and chopped out on leads, can't let Fletcher play as a loose man, need more options going forward. Can't let them get that run off the backline through the middle, there pace is what has beaten us in the past 2-3 games.

Smash Lloyd and that little turd Mon (I-Dive-For) Frees. If I see 1 free paid for in the back to him I will go ape shit.

AJ is a waste on Davey. Try something different with AJ this week, let him off the leash, use his pace to our advantage.

Smash them by 10goals and lets make a statement........

I like it blueboy but i reckon your backline is too big. Id prefer to THornton not to play or if he did at Austins expense.
I would start with Bower at CHB and Jamo as FB and flank them with running players. If it starts to fail i would bring on Austin/Thornton as the third spoiler.
Run out of the back is key in all games. Bower playing on a key forward but using his running off as a weapon against his direct player. Bower doesnt need to be spare. It was his running that quietened down Rewoldt. In the end Nick was trying to take him out of play. Hopefully Bower only concedes 2or3 but his running and direct style of dashing play sets the tone for the team to kick 15 odd.

Go Blues!

Not sure that Thornton will get up this week. He strained his hammy in the first half against Brizzy, they injected some fluid into it and he played out the game.

All I know is that if he doesn't play this week he will play next week for sure.

Maybe 60/40 to play against the Bummers....

Would really love it if Feltcher dropped into the space in front of Fev on a long fast lead...just once

ill put it down to oversight than people are leaving thornton out of the lineup. . Whether its bannister or garlett who gets the unfortunate chop is the question. If i was in charge it'd be garlett. I do have robbo in my best 22, but i dont think we should be making too many changes to try and beat Essendon* of all teams, if the guys playing last week can be considered stiff not to beat the saints, then no matter about matchups, they should be able to beat the bombers.

I'm preparing for a big week from Bryce Gibbs. He's about to smash a team apart, and he's due for a big one. I'd forgotten to mention setanta in my above post, a guy who sits behind me in the cheersquad each week said in the game against West coast i think it was That he was playing for his career in the next month, and since then i've been delighted with the attitude he's shown and the improvements he's made. . That lace out delivery to fev last week would put Stevo and Diesel to shame! Lol

Also, i only heard about fisher's performance in the magoos last week, is jordy russell injured or is he just finding form? just wondering where he's at.

There's very little chance of Fletcher playing anywhere near Fev

Even if selected on him, Fletcher wont be anywhere near him except in cutting off long leads.

Given their forward line I wouldnt have thought there was any need in playing Thornton too early. Id much rather play Bower or Austin on an ageing and slow Lucas and try to benefit from the run off.

I for one would keep Bannister in the middle and on Watson. Hard tag. Outside runners are one thing but if you can lock off the source you can mitigate that advantage. We arent going to stop them in free-flight but we can stop it getting it out to them. Bannister a must for mine.

They're just an expert team at highly efficient football. They kick goals from amazing angles and from half back clearances. We have to lock it down and clog them up in the middle.

From memory, I reckon AJ started on Lovett last time but struggled to keep up with him. In saying that though I believe that AJ has improved significantly since round 3.

Didn't say he did, not sure how he would drop into the space in front of Fevs lead if he was on Fev?
