Here is a reader who knows of Worrell, Weekes and Walcott (in correct order  )
Are they still around?

Sir Frank Worrall died in 1967; Everton Weekes died in the '80s (I think...) ; and Clyde Wlacott was going strong the last time I heard...... :?:

Thank you for putting them in the correct order! And, weren't they great batsmen for West Indian cricket- Weekes 2nd only to Bradman for scoring the most consecutive Test centuries in succession and Walcott the only batsman to score five centuries in a Test series (against Australia in 1955). Worrall the unforgettable captain of the 60-61 series......

Clyde passed away in 2006. Would have loved so have seen the Ws in their time plus Sobers, Hall, Griffith etc. 35 years before my time alas

I thought Weekes outdid Bradman in consecutive centuries - Weekes hit 5 in a row (and was run out for 90 in his next innings), while Bradman hit 4 twice, I believe. Would have been fantastic to watch some of these greats play in their prime...

As for the topic at hand, I am uninformed about Warnock, so no comment there. Waite is the textbook definition of "X-factor", whilst Walker is not far behind. I'd like to see Walker on the HF line in the Houlihan/Russell sort of role as a forward who can quieten his man but still be creative and free to do whatever the flower he wants to. As for Waite, I've always felt that he should be used on the wing primarily, moving back and forth as the play dictates.

I think you may be right, Halford, about Weekes- I thought I'd read somewhere that Bradman scored six in a row but I'd most likely be mistaken- and Warnock and Walker will add two hard bodies needed for the finals, as well as the X-factor.......

Quote:
“We are hopeful Walker may return in round 14. His athleticism is amazing, his running and his jumping. He will play around the square as well as in the square and he will provide additional versatility to the team.”

“Warnock will also create versatility and he may provide the opportunity for Kreuzer to play other positions, whether deep forward or at centre-half-forward. He has great versatility for a big man and we look forward to him growing his game as the season progresses.”

If Tex returns via the Bullants in round 14 then he should be in the seniors by round 16 - the Sydney game. If not then it should be round 17 (Collingwood) or 18 (North Melbourne).

Great news.

Walker back in a few weeks before the end of the season would be a big , big plus for us if we make the finals .
There's no reason Waite won't come back OK . Knee ops have improved considerably since Kouta had his done . Should be up and firing for 2010 .

Warnock is another story . I can't see him playing seniors this season . Has had almost 12 months out of football , ( missed the last part of last year with injuries at Freo ) . Hasn't been able to run here with his foot injury , so will be sadly out of any sort of match fitness .
Also , he couldn't hold his place in the team at Fremantle because he wasn't as good as Kepler Bradley ( of all people ) .
I reckon we won't see him before 2010 , in the seniors . And he will have to improve a lot on his past AFL form .

I'd bet that Warnock makes his Navy Blue debut in 2009.

Not just a hunch, but I believe it's Ratts' intention...to have a look and see the chemistry.

Yeah could be right there BB, I also think he would like to see all of Betts, Yarran and Garlett in the forward 50 this year at least once or twice for the same reason, and with Eddie showing that he can also play in the middle for bursts, team balance wouldnt be too badly affected.

Just on warnock, I have heard around the traps he now weighs in at around 103-104 kgs, can anyone confirm or deny this as it would seem to be a great result given earlier in the year he was still around 94ish kgs.

If his body is up to it, he should play, even if he leans against the goalpost while Fev leads out. I can't imagine an opposition coach letting his man go to Fev and leave someone 206 cm tall alone in the square. If he can mark a footy at all, he will kick goals. Even DeLuca could kick them from 5 metres out when he marked.
I said, 'when'.

Warnock mentions that one of the benefits being off his feet is the time he's spent in the gym and increased his weight to 104kgs. Look for the interview last week on the CFC site.
