AA U18 CHF IIRC

The Carlton recruiting geniuses at the time figured they'd gamble our first pick on making a forward into a full back. Poor bugger never had a chance. That's what happens when you waste years of draft picks on has-beens, you get desperate and make mistakes.

Obviously nowhere near even VFL standards playing for Kerang, but 58 goals in 8 matches is a top effort. Aside from the 14, has also kicked two bags of 10. He must be a gun in that league as he would still be quite young.

Lalbert are struggling bigtime this year, not surprised to see Livo kick a bag against them.
Just a small 233 point win too.

We recruited SOS as a full forward and turned him into a full back.

Livo started his career quite well when SOS was alongside but then we all know what happened to the team not long after that.

Livo...great guy, not really ever given a chance. I always thought he was more or less hung out to dry.

Ultimately he probably wasn't good enough, but we certainly didn't give him the best opportunity to succeed. Which is a shame, isn't it? It's the club's job to give ever player on the list, especially those drafted with early picks and extra pressure on them, as much opportunity and as many resources to succeed. Didn't really happen in Livo's case.

Agree totally.

Injury is what didn't give Livo a chance, he suffered some terrible injuries early on and his career was curtailed before it began.

There were only a few times that I thought he looked even remotely comfortable on a footy field, and they were when he was leading from FF.

Selected as the next best available tall in the 2000 Draft (behind Reiwoldt & Kositchke) - but probably not a Number 4 Draft pick.

We really didnt distinguish ourselves in that Draft with effectively 3 first round draft picks.

Yep, when he was allowed to run at the ball and go for his marks he showed something.

Livo was an All Australian CHB. The backline was not foreign to him.

I thought he went to the backline because he was average and they were trying to find a position for him.

Might have played more FWD. But in the champs for VC he was definately in the backline.

I thought he was played in the backline out of necessity and to give him some experience. The plan was always for him to move forward eventually.

I use to tow a similar line, but have to conceed that there is a strong possibility that despite the 2002 - 2006 era being devoid of development, modern facilties and off field support for young players, some maybe just didn't have it and I lived a false hope.

Payers who I had great hopes of coming good from that era include Livingston, Prendergast, Aisake, Batson, Beasy, Raso, Croad, Bryan, Chambers, Boyd, Kenna, Flint, Angwin, Norman, Saddington to name a few and I even expected Lance to be a dominant force.

What a waste of talent, hopes and probably most important what a waste of picks.

When you have a look at the number of retreads we took that era, I'd say we were well and truly cursed, not just financially. Did someone point a bone at us or something?

I really reckon Livo just wasn't good enough, as may that well be the case for some of our first round draftees who we had huge expectations of and are still on our list like Russell (9) Wiggins (15) and Hartlett (20).

Damn waste of picks/ talent.

Great to hear Livo is having fun.
It doesn't matter what grade you are playing when you are kicking bags every week in a winning footy team it's always an enjoyable time; country or city.

Good to see him kicking goals in the bush . I played a lot of bush footy , and it's good fun .

Just wasn't good enough for AFL . Pity . . . Wouldn't a bloke with his size ( and the experience he would have had ) be handy for us now , with 150 - 200 games to his credit .

Bush footy is still dominated by the same type of 'athletes' that were getting about in the 80s. That's Livo to a tee - a cheeta off the mark, turning circle of an elephant.

Cal Beasy looked for all money like a footballer, but his selection could only be put down to poor (in a sense that it was under-staffed, under-resourced, outdated pardigms, etc) recruiting. The bloke spent more time playing table tennis in the rehab group than playing footy. He was picked on fables and fairytales. We were sold a lemon....

Big deal. We've got the recipe for success now.
