M&D: That was a pretty fast run down the wing. How do you rank in terms of sprinting ability in the club?

Hammer: Second actually – over 20 metres. First is Lachie Hill who can run a 2.73s over 20, and I’m just behind him at 2.77.

Is that true??!!??! He's 201cm and 100kg!! LOL

Yep. Doesn't use it as much as he did in the juniors.

a matter of confidence you think?

For a non-native footballer, Hammer has made great strides in decision-making and footy skills this year. Funny how when players start to work out how to operate in the heat of battle that intangibles like confidence come into their game, and their performance snowballs to an unstoppable force :fight:

I think it has more to do with the fact he's not used as much up forward. Generally only uses the burst in chase or on the lead; good to see it through the midfield.

If Warnock turns out to be half decent, I agree with you.

In fact I'd like to see Hammer and Krueze rotating through there.

Called it very early and reiterated it again after his first game of this season when others were prematurely calling for his head. He is going to be a star. An absolute star.

"As someone who'd have seen Warnock first hand, is he actually 206cm?

Well he’d have an inch or two over me for sure, and he’s put on a lot of weight since he’s been out. I think he came over at 92-93 kilos and now, after a lot of hard work, he’s got that up to 104kilos"

This was pretty encouraging too, good to hear 206 has been working on his bulk while his foot is injured.

Great article!!!
Sounds a good kid!! Once he gets comfortable at the top level he will shine.
Pleasing to hear him wrap Capuano's work.
Good/Average players often make the best instructional coaches because people were always giving them advice.
Diesel is probably the only person who thinks he is better than Judd (even now) and would give him advice.
Nice to hear 206 is now 104 too.
Healthy competition for places = success.

If he's now "104 too", then he is logically 1248. Yep, it must be Friday. Go Blues!

Simmo wins this weeks POTW for all round brilliance plus the 3 on 1 in the pocket.

Nice one.
Interesting to see how many of our current 22 are low picks or ex rookie-list players.

Houlihan was something like #72
Fev #34 ish
Setanta, Joseph, Betts, Garlett, Jamo rookies
Probably missed some without my cheatsheet.

These are the players that win premierships, not just the top twenty in the draft IMO.

And I will NEVER forgive Dorotich for not kicking it to me at Waverley against Richmond years ago as I waved to him and shouted, "Kick it to me! Kick it to me!" from directly behind the goals right on the final siren.
He kicked it to someone behind the points and we lost by 3 or 4 points.

My favourite #6 was Gary Crane but Simmo has taken over.
Well done on 100 games. You've done our jumper proud in dark times.

Simmo's burst in the second quarter is what sparked us. That run and carry from the backline, as mentioned, was inspirational, but then he topped that 2 or 3 times more before the half ended, a couple of efforts where he smashed into saints players on the wing, forcing the issue and winning the contested footy really, really lifted us, both on the ground and in the stands.

Another great interview by Mork and Dindy. Simmo is good interviewee by the sounds of things. He expands on his answers a bit which is good value for the supporters.
As for rookies BS, dont forget Carrazzo and T/Bird.

Betts...again. Always rely on the great little man for a highlight or three.

Good read...think you'll find he was a PSD pick after Richmond stole Knoble from under our noses (thank-you, thank-you Richmond!)
