Brendan Fevola turns page as kids' author

Quote:
CARLTON spearhead Brendan Fevola has co-authored two children's books about AFL football.

*snip*

He has teamed with writer Christian Whitehead to produce My Footy Book and The Best Game Ever for young fans of the game.

The books will be launched this month.

My Footy Book is a detailed skills development tool that also picks up on the scrapbooking craze, allowing children to record their great footy moments.

*snip*

The Best Game Ever is a brightly illustrated storybook about two fictional junior footy teams, the Blues and the Reds.

*snip*

The novel's narrator and hero, the Blues' captain, has a head of hair reminiscent of Fevola's former curly mop.

Fev's great with kids, and I can see him working with them when he's done with footy.

Fev really is great with kids. Friend tells a great story of a flight back from hawaii where Fev entertained his then 4 year old all the way home. OK, lots of jokes about being on an intellectual level, sure, but kids and parents don't forget that stuff. They put a lot more credence in that than a couple of nights on the piss.

Hope the books go gangbusters.

That's great, Fev has written 2 more books than he's read. :smoking:

Went to a brekky the other day with some former Carlton heavyweights and a current club president in attendance (not ours) and one of the CFC boys reckons Fev can't read or write so the book should be a beauty! Also, they paid out on Caro and Robbo something fierce, accusing Caro in particular of making stuff up all the time.
See? It's not just us who reckon she does it.

I reckon Greg Denim does that. Definitely makes things up on the fly.

They're not re-inventing the wheel there.

True, but I've never heard people in such high places say it without any qualms. She was supposed to be there but her editor stopped her from going due to the Laidley resignation. I reckon she would have been squirming had she been in attendance.

FWIW, good luck to him and I would think that Fev has written one book more than the rest of you!

Like the Specky McGee series I suspect that Fev's involvement is as much about having a well known footy name on the cover as it is about Fev actually putting pen to paper.

ive ordered a copy at chapel st borders for my nephew, which i have to mention a story about fev in regards to those making this about questioning his personal life. .

Somewhere on the board there'll be a post i've made regarding this, but i'll bring it up as its appropriate.

My cousin has down syndrome, and BLEEDS for the navy blue. . . in 2006 we took him to training, and asked eddie betts over to the fence for an autograph or two. Eddie, along with fev, cain ackland, matty lappin, and t-bird spent 20minutes talking to him, and fev told us to wait there as he ran into the changerooms. He emerged 5/10mins later with a training shirt, signed by all the boys which he gave him. . .i cant explain the joy this gave our family.

Fev, like eddie and several others are super human beings. Yes, he's made some stuff ups, but so have you and i. . The only difference is he has people hanging crap on him for it. . . I'd take one fevola ahead of 20 didaks, stephen milnes, or the likes who'd have spent 5minutes at best with the kids, or any non-paid gig in their lives.

That is an awesome story!

Gotta love Fevvy
