As part of the MCG Rite of Passage, footy-loving kids will be able to run on to the 'G before the Carlton v Richmond game on July 11.

So kick-to-kick's been totally banned at the 'G these days?

Another sign that the AFL is totally out of touch.

It's been like that for years now.

I remember they did let people on the ground afterwards in round 22 2007, was the tanking game vs the Dees.

I'm going to sign up my little brother though, unfortunately he never got the chance to do it while it was still allowed.

God I miss Princes Park.

Yet, funnily enough, they've been letting people play kick-to-kick on the SCG and Olympic Stadium now for the last couple of years, whereas previously it was strictly verboten.

I believe this was caused by some bloke doing his knee playing kick to kick on the 'G after the siren in the late 90's, and attempted to sue the MCG, MCC, the two clubs, the club's medical staff who looked after him (Dogs I think it was?) for damages. Whilst he didn't succeed, it still spooked them into calling it off. I think the Dome just worry about their turf more than anything.

Im presuming the clubs medical team on that day volunteered to look after him? kudo's to them.

If that story is true, what a flower for trying to sue :banghead:

Rock up @ the ground @ 11am, get your seats allocated. Then they give you a footy and a wristband or something.

Then from 12:30 they give the kids their showbags up on level 2 of the atrium.
