Is anyone worried about Simmo missing this game? Lot of talk from neutral supporters that his tackle on Goddard will see him get a week or two for driving him into the turf with arms pinned.

Yes I'm worried.
It didn't look good on the slow motion replay.

But from what I recall the ball came loose late so Simmo couldn't see it, the tackle was a single movement and doesn't Goddard have one arm free? (he just doesn't use it).

It'll be absolute bulls#@$ if he goes... how can football supporters (as a whole) expect (and demand) players tackle with 100% commitment and intensity and yet at the same time be wary of the ball being lost in the tackle and be able to pull out of completing the tackle. Yes there is a duty of care but at the same time it is also a fast contact sport FFS.

Nothing in the Simpson tackle, wasn't even a free kick with the Umpire in the immediate area.

I'm sure Kade would really appreciate that...

The umpiring on the night isn't a good indicator as to whether he will go on not.

Bit surprised Murphy wasn't condemned to death by the commentators for his nearly-elbow on some douchebag last Friday

Simmo free to play.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 42,00.html

Quote:
Contact between Carlton’s Kade Simpson and St Kilda’s Brendon Goddard from Friday’s match was also assessed. The panel said that Simpson tackled Goddard and pinned his left arm. Simpson’s head was positioned behind Goddard’s back, and the Carlton player would not have seen the ball had spilt free before taking Goddard to ground.

Great news, I was more worried for Murphy to be honest but that hasn't even been assessed by the look of it :smoking:

If anyone saw the Brisbane V Essendon* game earlier in the year at the Gabba the lions did a terrific job of defending the corridor.
A teams zone must change depending on who we play. More blokes blocking the corridor making them chip it down the line and we'll be right.
LEAVE HOULIHAN INSIDE 50!

It warmed my heart to hear James Hird ,commending Hoops on 'On the Couch'.In fact the whole panel seem to appreciate his excellent footy brain, and fleet foot skills.
Go Hoops.
I have a feeling he'll put in a blinder against the Dons, and Stevo too.Just to bury the critics for awhile.

Apparently the boys had a training session yesterday.

Are they not taking a few days off?

Does anyone know what their week off entails please?

Ratts said in his Presser that they would train until Mid week for recovery have a few days off and be back into it on Sunday - Not exactly a long break but I would imagine if the Ants are playing this week some would not get a break at all

Thanks SB  - I would think all players would be in attendance at Sunday's tribute to Mr Pratt.

Welsh, Fletcher and probably Winderlich to return this week:

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/ ... 42,00.html

I'm not too worried.......Fletcher is 34 and it will take him more than this Friday's match against Melbourne to get close to 100%.
Welsh is in a similar situation after being injured in the preseason.

Geelong V Essendon* game also...a zone "across" the corridor...all you could see up the entire ground was a zigzag of Cats players from defence to attack in the corridor.
Essendon* had no answer and couldn't get oit "over" the zone as the Cats playesr moved across to pressure.

If we leave the corridor open and I see Lovett running through .... :banghead:

It will be hard for Lovett to move much less breath with you know who on him. :smoking:
