BE PROUD OF WHAT????

NEWSFLASH: WE LOST

Why are we giving the boys a pat on the back for losing. Great effort yes but the lengths people are going to praising the boys as an honorable loss is a joke.

Our boys should be hurting, they should be thinking they need to come out against the Bombers next week desperate for a WIN

All we want is to win games of football. NOT HONORABLE LOSSES and accept mediocrity

Like Dermie said when playing for the Hawks in the eighties no way in hell would a loss be accepted as honorable and they all felt absolutely gutted about it with the supporters let them know about it to. Where as when he played for the Pies, he couldn't believe the mediocre support from celebrating supporters when the club had an honorable loss back at the pies social club. A loss should never be accepted

Great effort from the boys but at the end of the day we lost a game we could have won. NOT GOOD ENOUGH

but we'll take a lot more out of this game than st kilda.

I'll take the 4 points thanks.

I'll sacrifice 4 points now for an extra 12 next year.

After games like this we won't lose games like Essendon*, freo etc next year. Greater good.

I'd have gone nuts for the 4 points tonight too but St Kilda won't have found out heaps tonight about themselves. Reckon the blues did.

I don't think there was a holding the ball paid until the 3rd quarter...

Just from memory...

You only had to look at the boys at the siren to see how upset they were and how happy the saints players were. They know we're coming and last night we almost arrived.
I would have taken a 9 point margin before the game. I think many would have. Our percentage is still worth a game to us.
We were shown up in attack again and we desperately need another tall marking forward to assist Fev. It may be Kreuzer or Waite when he comes back but it isn't O'hAilpin, even though he had a pretty good game again last night. He is better served a bit further away from goal IMO.
The sooner we resolve this, the better we will be.
Also, I wonder how much itme goes into working our how our opposition CHF seems to be able to lead into an empty space when Fev always has to contend with multiple defenders.
We have to bring the same intensity to the table next week or Essendon* will rn us off or feet through the midfield. And if we kick as well as we did last night the result should be different from the last debacle against them.

I believe the Adelaide game was a turning point, boys felt really embarrassed with thier effort and have really played for the jumper since.

Yes we lost but I feel like we won. The confidence that the boys must have gotten from last night will only serve us well in the future.

I believe the team is really starting to believe in itself and the plan is starting to come together.

If we can make the finals and end the year playing like we did last night or better ... well ... I think it has been a massive season for developement ... good times are coming ... we have not arrived but by jove we are coming!

Has looked listless all year to me but played like the old Simmo full of adventure last night.

I'd go one step further and say that was his best game in Blue and if he can play his next 100 games at anywhere near that level of intensity he will become a CFC great.

I kind of agree with Melvey.

I loved the game, entertainment at its finest but like Ben Cousins says winning is not everything, it is the only thing.

A shit load of positives to come from the game but at the end of the day we didn't get the 4 points and that's not good enough. I don't know about anyone else but I myself have said that at our best we can beat anyone including St Kilda and Geelong.

But flower that was a entertaining game, great turn out blues supporters.

I think alot of saints supporters was very quite last night after the game in my opinion and i believe they was going to into the game as if we going to get a flogging from them...

i reckon we blues matched them up pretty well considering the umpiring of the game was all 1 sided and we hard to really earn our way back into the game and to get all so close to beating them...

I am proud of our boys to turn the game around from the poor 1st 1/4 which was never going to be easy against a full side of St kilda who are at there best right now

i feel that there was only 1 or 2 guys that let us down last night and i may even be harsh in saying this

i really think Nick Stevens has go back to the bullants for awhile is not looking real comfortable out there at the moment... I think stevens is a great player and can be good for our team but he has to learn that is not just about him and his individual needs it is a team sport and needs to play the team game...i feel he has to start going in hard for the ball then standing back waiting for it to happen ...he played an ok last 1/4 but the rest of 3 terms he was not at his best...time for a spell for stevens it may hurt Carlton to do this but i reckon we all will be better of in the long term for him and the club...

Seriously thou i thought we would have lost by 2-3 goals last night but to be only 9 points at final siren was good... 9 point loss i can handle that and i dont think it has hurt our chances yet to play a finals game this year...

our players can stand tall and be proud of how they played they went in there and gave it there all if not a bit more and you can't ask much more then that except for a win considering the hand we was dealt by vosso and his sidekick

Developing side... so in this instance the result really is good enough. The honourable losses will stop soon enough. For the moment we have pride back in the guernsey, and that was the first vital step. Yes Melvey, the next step is to win. When we make up the gaps we currently have in experience then that will come. Last night's narrow loss means the lads will work just that little bit extra to get there. A very positive night for the navy blue and everyone who barracks for us - feel free to shed tears into your crunchy granola... but I for one won't be joining you. It's not accepting mediocrity - it is building for the future, and that's what we are doing. At the end of it all, I feel they did us proud, they did themselves proud, and now they just need to do everything they can to keep the momentum onwards and upwards.

Wasn't me, I was too busy getting plastered. Two things the TV doesn't show...

1. My ex-Golden Boy Stevens is the biggest front-runner the game has known. His effort was deplorable at times. I have never seen more piss weak defensive efforts.

2. Houlihan, although markedly improved defensively to an almost acceptable AFL level ,does not play the "team defensive game." Twice his team-mate's opponent strolled past him in arm's length and he refused to tackle or apply any form of pressure resulting in a goal.

My hat's off to you Aaron Joseph. "Raaaaaspekt!"

IMO, Stevo will play the year out and continue to take a good opponent freeing up our younger mids to develop some more.
Who knows after that...

we lost - it hurts but not as @#$%&! much as the 100 point floggings and it hurts because I think we should have won. If we had have hit the front I think we may have won by 3 or 4 but we just couldn't find the next goal.

i know he will most likely play the rest of the season out and who knows after that.. i just feel he needs to go back to the ants for a bit of reflection on what he is in the game for... he still has a good year or 2 in him yet but

I'm tipping he'd give it away rather than pulling the red guernsey on, oz.

Yes we lost, but there were endless positives to come out of that game.

Based on last night's performance, we are a top 4 side. With a full strength side, or close to it, we can make a prelim. We are better than the Bulldogs, we can beat the Hawks and we are the kind of the team who rises to the occasion. I can't wait to see us against the Cats in R18 with Walker and Warnock in.

This may all seem like an exaggeration but I just can't believe how much talent this side has. There are many underrated players and we are now on the cusp of becoming a very, very good side.

Never before have I seen the guys play with so much intensity and heart. The effort was unbelievable. A big pat on the back to everyone and to those who say Stevens should be dropped, watch his game again. He was fantastic.
