All I'm saying is that if Fev gets that free and kicks a goal it changes the whole dynamics of the game. Momentum is everything.

having said that, I have never been prouder as a Blues supporter tonight.

I reckon we were great.

Loved the way we ran and carried.

They'll start tagging Bower soon.

In the end you have 3½ quarters to get yourself back in the game, if you're good enough you do it, and its a great sign that we did fight back rather than drop our heads, but the umpires gifted them a great start in the first 10mins....they really did.

Hopefully its a watershed game for us and we take plenty from it in terms of what it takes to win big games of football. Its hard to really find fault with any of our players tonight, there are always areas of improvement, but they really gave it everything.

Apart from the first 10 minutes I thought we were the better team.

Two big differences between the teams otherwise were (1) our kicking for goal vs theirs at crucial times and (2) their physicality was just a bit superior to ours.

Lenny Hayes is a psycho freak - a gun with the ball, an animal in the tackle, and almost ungrabbable in the packs.

Definitely some    moments with the umpires though.

I thought Steven Browne & Simmo were superb. Their will to dash through tackles was brilliant.

It's amazing the difference in intensity we've shown in the Hawthorn & Saints games versus the Swans & Dockers matches. Mark of a young side I suppose.

Glad we've got a week off after that. Disapponted we lost but it was a great game.

Absolute rubbish. Judd's shnoz was busted in a friendly fire head clash. Shit happens.

I thought our physicality and intensity were great. Lots of Saints players on hands and knees in the first quarter.

That Free was the most ridiculous one I think I've ever seen! Finally, they tell someone they won't pay a free for head high when the bend their back and run into someone - and in the same game, someone hitting the ball with an outstretched arm makes head high contact when an idiot runs into his arm.....

Should have won this game.
Disappointing that we lost it, and we did lose it rather than St.Kilda won it.

Really like the looks of Aussie.
Growing in confidence with plenty of talk and presence out on the ground.
Great mover across the turf.
Is definitely a quality tall and must be kept in the team.
No more ants for Aussie!!

Simmo's best game for the year.
Has looked listless all year to me but played like the old Simmo full of adventure last night.

All those peanuts who reckon Judd's not a good Captain really have no idea.
The mans actions lead the way and are inspirational.

Nice to see Fev working with and coaching Setanta. Fev should be the forwards coach.

Fev should have given away a 50 with his crude off the ball hit on (I think it was) Dal Santo

I certainly agree that they put the whistle away - but I also believe that it was rotten in the 1st qtr when everything of ours that was borderline got pulled up. It was just very inconsistent to start with and quite frustrating. As I said elsewhere - I'd rather not get "the rub of the green" like we did last week if it eventually results in a lopsided qtr like we saw first up.

Worst post of the year. Garlett is a rookie kid who has freakish abilities and is only going to get better. Its when guys like him get to 50 games that we win our next flag...........not RUSSELL (did you really say that ???????????????????????) or CLOKE (what the ??) or.........................................................HARTLETT (FFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

Great effort by the boys tonight. I reckon tonight was a "line in the sand" game for us. We harrassed, tackled and pressured most of the game, and even early on we kept coming back even when down 5 goals. Fev should have got at least 4 more frees, and I'd like to hear the Geesh's explanantion of that one in the first quarter, whereas Reiwoldt gets 90% of his.

Hoops goals and we win, simple as that. And that was against a team that most say are palying the Cats for the cup. When Gibbs and Murphy develp physically enough to stand up in those games, and we get 1AW and 206 on the park, we'll be a contender.

i thought garlett was good last night..i thought that armfield had a bad game. not sure what the mc will do in this situation. the guys is quick out of defence, but his skills and ball use under pressure needs developing. i think he needs more time to develop (in the ants?)

Great signs, great signs.

We're coming wasn't meant to mean 'we've arrived', and after last night, who could deny that our marketing people got it absolutely right? Draw a formline from 2007 to today, and it's moving up, up, up... the momentum is undeniable. Keep this up and 11 wins beckons, and we'll be the sort of team you WON'T want to meet in the finals - young, hungry, and with potential matchwinners in the middle and up forward. Could we be so lucky as to make the finals and get to play our bunnies, Collingwood? God, I hope so. They'd be literally shitting themselves, and we'd have the game won before the opening bounce.

On Fev: if he wants more free kicks, he should stop giving shit to the umpires. They've always judged smartarse loudmouths more harshly than other players (remember the 'no votes for you, Diesel' game?) and they always will. It might not be fair, but it's entirely in Fev's hands. But I doubt he can change his ways, so we just have to accept that a nice boy like Riewoldt will always get more free kicks than our FF will.

Some perspective: St Kilda has, on average, kept the opposition to 58 points up until last night. We nearly doubled that. The saints got over the line not because of umpiring, but because on the night their seasoned A-Graders (Hayes, Goddard, Riewoldt, Dal Santo, Montagna) stood up for them. As they should. In a season or two, that'll be us with Kruezer, Gibbs, Murphy, Etc.

An observation: we had more handballs than kicks, and lost (again). This has happened all season, but it's a case of the chicken and the egg - hard to know which results from which.

It's great that the MC are investing for the future by playing Hammer, Garlett, Browne. The plan isn't so much to win last night, but to win the Premiership within the next 3 seasons.

Highlight for me: AJ not only doing his usual stopping magic, but he also managed to rack up 19 touches. Adding that aspect to his game will make him an elite run-with player - something we've sorely lacked until now. Loving his work.

After the narrow Hawthorn loss, I was shattered because we should have won that game, no question. Today, I'm disappointed we didn't win, but running the top team to 9 points (where no-one else has) is as good an indicator of our continued development as the win against Brisbane was.

But by christ, I hope this loss hurts the boys to their very core, and they bottle it up for two solid weeks and SMASH THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF THOSE FILTHY ****ING RED AND BLACK ****'S

This ironically was the best peformance from our team for a number of years but we lost. Its important we beat Essendon* though in a fortnight.

Thornton was not missed tonight because we seemed to have more run out of defence.
I like the look Austin. He is quickhas good size and makes good decisions
Given the volts run with the umps and excellent delivery I thought Thorntonwouldn have prevented Nick kicking 5 or so.
Bowers second half was awesome
Thornton if he comes back should be played in attack

I saw Joseph at the bullants last year. Thought Hughes had found a little pot of gold then.
He is tough quick and so strong in the tackle. Will make a top midfielder.
jammo is quickof the mark. Played his best game

Judd.....COURAGE.
Hoops...great team work, and sorry you missed that goal, but I always believe in you.
Garlett...the little Prince genius!(love watchin him grow each week.)
Bower and Jammo.....superb!
If we'da had Waitey in...we'd have WON.....and..ok...they didn't have King....(Gardiner shouldna been playin cos he's a thug)...BUT..that's pretty much their top team, and we have Warnock to come in,plus,Walks and Waite..so how happy should we be?
AJ...superstar!!!!
Stevo...Gibbs, Murph.......geez...honestly....everyone...please feel great about yourselves...you deserve it...and can't wait for Bombers game.

Thought Simmo and Bower were our best.

When it looked like the Saints were threatening to run away with it in the 2nd quarter , Simmo got on his bike and just kept going. His run and good delivery in to the forward line got us back in to the game I thought.

Riewoldt looked like he was about to blow the game wide open, but I thought Bower was superb after quarter time. He was probably our barometer for the night, because once he started to get on top of Riewoldt, we started to get a hold on the game. He and Jamo did a wonderful job to spoil and then run off Riewoldt.

Only gripe I had was Setanta's decision making. Most of the night he was trying to do the right thing, but there were times when he turned it over something shocking particularly when he had it between wing and half forward. He should have gone long to Fev except he held on to it kicked it across his body and found a St.Kilda player. As I said, overall he provided us with another target at CHF, but he made some silly errors.
