Gutsy effort, but all night St Kilda had too much class when it mattered most. Twice, maybe three times we had shots on goal to get the lead but missed every shot. We were 9.2 at half time and then, again, our goal kicking became wayward and it cost us dearly. A common theme for the year so far I'm afraid.

I'm very, very proud of our boys. We will get a lot from this game.

We missed our chances! Brave effort but had a chance. Judd was inspiring!

I hate losing to those mongrels.

But for us to more than match their intensity for the majority of the match, I'm happy.

I'll take a 9-point loss over the thrashing it seemed it might be after those first 5 mins.

Again, skills were the let-down, not application.

Now two weeks rest and smash the bombers in two weeks!

I'm sick of being close, and of poor kicking costing us. Flowering sick of it.

I hope the boys want to go smash something. Bring on Essendon* NOW!

Great effort to play catch-up twice but two short St.Kilda bursts and kicking at goals in the second half killed us.

So am I but this feels worse than a belting from a team we thought we had a chance with. I think we'll be playing finals folks.

I'm gutted we lost, but immensely proud of our effort. I'm not a fan of the gallant loss, but the boys must have learned a lot from that game.

It's looking good. And great to see Banno get a couple.

Looking forward to watching it on delay now (in Perth), even with the result. Might wait until the second quarter though....

The pricks are carrying on in the rooms as though they'd won the flag. Milne screaming his little <injunction> lungs out!

I'm sick of saying it, but I want them bleeding next time.

Now, for those who thought I was crazy for dissing the Saints, tonight's match is a good reason why I don't really rate them.

We essentially had them beaten in every way but for the score. Save for a couple of bursts in the 1st and 3rd, they were lazy. If they weren't drilled well as a team, they'd be no better than Collingwood.

Did you hear his voice break, or was that just me?

5-9 to 7-3 in the last half. Very hard to win against a quality side. That's four more scoring shots for a lot less return. Proud of the boys but so disappointed about what could have been. It would have been a defining win.

Also no T-bird or Judd after halftime really ... so even more encouraging ... Also we made the saints really work hard ... cannot say a lot of teams have done that this year.

We came really close ... Fev missed a couple he should have gotten .... we r getting there .... just wish we could have been there tonight! Close is not good enough but I feel we are just that smidgen inexperienced in these type of situations ... but have to say showed intensity and heart ... exspecially after being 32 points down.

Many, many good reasons not to be devestated by this loss.

But MAN DO I HATE THE FLOWERING SAINTS!!

Indeed. Couldn't have asked for more from him.

The tale of our year. The positive from that is, with stronger bodies and improved confidence as we gain more experience our skills should improve markedly.

Sucks that it is costing us wins though.

Stevo was in and out of the match.

He definitely needs to increase his input into the match, for mine. The skills are there, but he can be lazy at times.
