Agree. Also allows Aussie to drift back if we're in trouble in defence.

Unfortunately NO ... StKilda has the wood on us ... they always rise to the occasion. Its been years since we beat them ... and their players are too hardened ... it hurts me to say this but I reckon they will win very easily.

I am going out to a birthday that night ... probably just as well.

..zoning's a dodgey tactic i reckon, and it's fresh novelty value worked to undo teams last year more than it's actual strategic brilliance.. ..it works for games like soccer/basketball cos in those games yer not allowed to just rush the opposition, tackle and physically remove them of the ball.. ..provided a team has the endurance and disicpline to play 4 quarter man on man type footy with high intensity pressure, you can undo a team's zoning.. ..with one on one footy you need multiple little wins with match-ups to win, but in zoning you need to just exploit the weak link in the chain and the whole zoning tactic falls apart..

..from what i've seen of st kilda this year is they will try and run/carry the ball as much as they can (though goddard is prone to long kicking).. ..need disciplined pacy half forwards to lay clamps on their halfback line.. ..players to shut-down are definately godds, fisher and montags.. ..who-ever plays on revolting needs to let him roam up the ground/push him up the ground.. ..he can get possies up there, and it'll allow kosi to get double-teamed..

Bower on Riewoldt, Carlos on Kosi, AJ on Montagna, Carrazzo defensive forward on Goddard, T/Bird as a defensive forward on Fisher.
Head to head Judd v Dal Santo, Murphy v Ball.

Fev is the key. He struggles against fast backs and Max has a good a record as anyone. The trouble with Fev is he leads wide or refuses to lead when he plays on players who can run with him. He needs to persevere and show some leadership and persistence.

In 1995, we lost only 2 games to Sydney and St.Kilda in successive weeks, after being undefeated at that stage. So far in 2009 St.Kilda are undefeated, let's hope we can repay the favour to St.Kilda this time and bring their unbeaten run to an end. We haven't beaten them in the last 11 meetings. It's Payback time.
Hope Austin comes back in to help combat St.Kilda's big man stocks.

Like your great prediction last week. We can't beat the lions :garthp:

Yeah, wouldn't mind if they fed Carlos a few angry pills before the game as well. Reckon Kosi is one of those players that can get distracted by a fierce slobbering irishman.

Why does everyone want our best tagger on their 4th-5th best midfielder? If AJ is to play on a mid it has to be Dal Santo, he's the player that needs space to be effective. That said, AJ has to play on Milne (if he plays). Milne always manages to carve us up and we have no other options other than to put a Thornton/Bower/Jamo on him.

The match review panel ruled the contact was intentional, high impact and high contact. If King takes it to the tribunal and loses, he faces a six-match ban, but an early plea would reduce it to four weeks.

One bloke I'd actually think about this week would be Bannister. He'd be a good defensive half-forward choice. Good height, pace and a long kick. Matched up to a Gram or a Goddard would work I reckon. And he has the ability to be swung back if need be, or have a shot on the ball.

One player I would like in this week is Austin for Fish. He gives us the flexibility to play forward or back and will offer more defensive pressure in the forward line than Fish.

wow

well we should crunch all the st kilda players front on when they have their heads over the ball this weekend

and we should also punch a few of them on the jaw when they annoy us

why not?

its the barry hall rule

Seriously you can have a crack at me all you like... history and statistics show that we dont beat teams with tough midfielders. When is the last time we beat St Kilda? i would be over the moon if we beat them, but the blues have a great win, then the next week they let us down with sub par efforts.
No one in their right mind could seriously think we would beat ST Kilda.... WE CAN HOPE
Wont happen.... Saints by minimum 40 pts

Based on history your argument has legs.

I think Saints a getting closer to a fall as each week goes by; history also tells us that.

King suspended and Gardiner returns...so no change there in a way. Good that both aren't playing.

Based on history the tables do turn, but yes they would have to be favourites hands down.

Blues to win by 3 pts (with a bit of luck and a 4 qtr effort)
