He was one of the best for us ... even with 0 disposals he would have been one of our best. Stats eh ... they'll get you every time.

VERY happy with the wn.
great to see a pretty even performance (for 3/4) and winning a tight match interstate.
lots of positives.

However, am still concerned about:
1) our lack of clearances, given our mids
2) our tackling - just seems a bit weak
3) options going into the forward line
4) kick out strategies

We need to fix these to go up the next notch. perhaps a bit much for this year... first things first: play 4 quarters.

What a great win !!

I thought we were one tall defender short tonight but got away with it.

I was very surprised that Austin was dropped but all the ins were very good. Jamison is really struggling at the moment so Austin may find his way back into the side to strengthen the defence.

Great game by Fev who is truly a star and so is number 5.

Our ruck stocks are looking great and Warnock will add another dimension to the team by allowing Kruezer to go forward.

Let's not forget that Walker and Johnson (and Waite) are also out of the side still.

Bring on the "rabble" !!

Great, GREAT, GREEEEEEAAAT WIN!
I really noticed today how much we need Scotto - he was lacking a bit of polish for some disposals, but he is absolutely crucial for straightening us up....

Bower was great, Jamo was back to 2 weeks ago's form, rather than last week's....

The Simmo Free when Setanta marked looked like a 100% genuine hip and shoulder to me, can't wait to see that on replay....

The UMPs were 100% brilliant to us - but geeze I could have punched someone when Brown got the free for backing into Jamo and Jamo's arms closed for .3 of a second....

Brisbane were woeful coming out of their defensive 50 - and full credit for Ratts and the boys for thoroughly out-pointing their team in the battle of game plans....

Also - Lions fans are such FAIR WEATHER try hards..... "Oh, why do you suck so much Brennan" - "Jesus Christ, Brown is SO slow -why do we play him there" - "Oh the Carlton people don't chant as much as they should (While they're being stone cold silent because they're down by 14!!).....

Never doubt it peoples - Carlton owns a very significant chunk of Brisbane hearts - there is so much navy blue in the streets these days it makes your heart sing!!

Probably the first time in ages we obviously tired near the end and looked more spent than our opposition

bloody good though.... still struggled finding a target inside our half leading to the over-use of handball

The following players are awesome:
- Joseph - more "angry" than we expected, but in a good way. Would have to be close to the quickest player in the league
- Browne - just a calm, clever player who has a great future
- Hampson - improving a lot..... can't wait to see Warnock, Hampson and Kreuzer in the same 22
- Everyone else

Even our "poorer" performers added something. A great goal from Houlihan reminding us what he's capable of up forward... Fisher wasn't immense but was effective when he was used.

Can't see any changes this week against the saints..... but the pressure will be on Houlihan and Fisher pretty much all season....

Houlihan held Drummond until he eventually went off injured.

That game for 3 qtrs reminded me of the 1st Collingwood game of 2008.

- Held onto the ball when needed
- Focussed
- Concentration & desire to win

Really good effort boys, lots of +

I was at the game and there were no passengers tonight......everyone contributed.

Browne was a steal for pick #36 in the 2007 draft - a smart and tough player with good skills.
Very happy with AJ as well.
I have been critical of Armfield but he was good tonight as well.

This bit was extremely pleasing. You could tell the boys were manning up when the Lions were kicking out after a behind. Lions found it hard to kick to a free target and were under pressure a lot of the time.

If only we could do this every week and make it difficult for the opposition to get it out of their defensive 50.

Kudos to the boys for making it difficult for the opposition tonight.

Very pleased to win but honestly think we were lucky on a couple of fronts.....

1. Voss is shit, Bradshaw would have destroyed us in tandem with Brown, what a fool for putting him on Fev initially.

2. Umpires were pretty kind to us, doesn't happen often so I'm not exactly complaining

Very happy with Browne though, thought him and AJ were great. In time Garlett will learn what the best option is (I hope).

Kreuzer handballing to a running Hampson was great.

he is a strange looking unit... still a damn good player. I know we need to give Yarran time, but Rich is a long way ahead at this stage

I thought we were gone when Brisbane had that run on, but to boys credit they stood up when the heat was really on. Bower is just getting better and better. I say it every week, he is heart in the mouth with ball in hand, but I am feeling more and more comfortable because he is so attacking. Always creative, and 9/10 it comes off. AJ is great. The thing I really love about him is that whilst he is really putting the clamps on whoever he is assigned to, he is more than prepared to run off his man to help out. you see it time and again a flash across the screen and its AJ putting on a shepherd or a block for his team mate. I would dare say he is better than anyone in the side at doing it. as much as I'd like to him torment Milne next week (if he plays), I reckon we really need him to shut down one the Aints prime movers in either Montagna or Del Santo. Maybe Montagna cos he has the pace, and Grigga to Del. I can't wait for next Friday night. The Aints are due, and I'd love nothing more than to be the team to deliver it to them.

Go Baggers

Especially that bit of play in the last quarter with only a few minutes to go. The ball was in our forward pocket and Garlett kicked the ball in mid air either trying to center it or kick a miraculous goal. Would have been better to let the ball go out of bounds and chew up a few more precious seconds.

That bit of play nearly gave me a heart attack! :yikes:
