Pros:
- Judd. Just Judd!!! What a leader.
- Fev was switched on and was the main reason we won.
- AJ was great. Not only can he shut down his man, but he knows when to run off him and help out the team.
- Browne was solid. Liking the way he's going about it, and his disposal was spot on tonight
- Bower backing himself all the time, despite the awkward style.
- Hammer's learning very quickly and a few things he did tonight suggest he will make it. Will be major arsenal for our team in 12 to 24 months.
- Garlett's forward pressure was superlative tonight. He's developing very nicely, and could move into the midfield in future when he builds his fitness and puts on some kilos. Great pick up.
- Armfield - see AJ. Has been given a licence to run and carry the ball and doing great
- Grigg for 3 qtrs on Black
- Fev kicked 8 and we finished up with 16, so the spread of goal kickers is really encouraging

Cons:
- Last qtr fade out
- Black tearing us apart in that last (maybe Carrazzo would have been a better match up for the last)
- Goal kicking practice for the team - should have won by 5 or 6 minimum. :donk:

PROS:

* Fev's back!!
* Defenders - with the amount of Inside 50s in the 2nd half, they did a great job against a quality forward line
* AJ - a star ... warp speed, head like a hammer and the concentration of a buddhist monk ... love him
* Bower is consistently good, stepping up since Waite went down
* Hammer and Kreuz very good, Clarke is in hot form
* Browne was great and instrumental in holding on in that last quarter
* Forward pressure was great, several times Brissis just could not get it out of there, Betts and Garlett (great game) were very very good
* WE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONS:
* Clearances and pressure through the middle was poor
* Grigg ran out of puff and some of his efforts were sub par near the end of the game. Will take some time to get back into it but did some nice things
* Fisher was quiet, didn't get a lot of opportunity
* guarding the corridor, well we just let them waltz through there a little too often

PROS
Won interstate
Fev in stellar form with the ball
Hammo is coming on very quickly, palming clearly but not always to our guys
Gibbs early very good
TBird much maligned but pretty good even tho Brown outpointed him a few times
Bower - gives us heaps of run
Armfield and AJ great dash and grunt

CONS
Slaughtered in the middle in the last when I thought the Lions would be tiring
Fev was great but still stops and waits for decisions he thinks he should get - that is unforgivable no matter who you are
Fish not making the distance with a set shot from 40 - I thought his kicking had gained depth last week, maybe not
Jamo had about 5 kicked on him in one on one contests and went to ground in most of those contests. Seems to be playing injured.
Thought we crowded our forward line when the ball was in there and when it came out the Lions were able to run it to open forward line

Pros
Good win on the road for the Blues
held the lead for the whole match baring the first 7 minutes of the first quarter
8 Point game
Great game by usual suspects Judd, Murph, Gibbs
Good to see Fev back in form
Great games by Browne and AJ
Stevens was good especially in the licking out continued to find targets outside 50 on many occasions

Cons
Final quarter but expected the Lions to come back at us
Negative posters many who thought we would loose by 40+ this week and even after our win they still think we shouldnt have won.... Hello there is another team playing against us and i rate Brisbane as a decent team expecially at Home when they still have Black, Power, Brown, and Brenan is a gun veyr impressed with his game tonite

Pros:
Been a critic of Armfield but he was very good tonight
Browne...dropped back in front of J Brown quite a lot and isn't afraid to go back with the flight.
Fev actually getting the free kicks which should have been paid week in week out.
Gibbs playing more of an inside role. Went missing in the last along with Murphy but young players will do that when the pressure lifts.
Grigg good on Black for the first 3 qtrs
Hammer in the ruck...better palmer of the ball than Kreuz at the moment and we are starting to get a few effective clearances from his hitouts.
The great man
Defence held up well with the supply in the last qtr.
Gameplan too - a few instances when we had the ball at wing/HF and there were loose players about 30 out so we switched the ball into the middle then across to the other flank and then inside 50 to where there was space.
Joseph...normally little shits like Hooper kill us but it's good to see us developing those players who will play a specific role and do it very well.
Garlett's chasing in the forward line...if you can't get a kick it doesn't mean you can't chase and apply pressure.
Stevens disposal off half back was excellent
Scotland first game back also seemed to have the composure required
Bower bird got beaten by Brennan early but I don't think there's too many defenders who can match Brennan's agility but he provided good run off half back.
STFU Walls...if you haven't noticed his improvement then you haven't been watching too closely.

Cons:
Poor in the middle during the last qtr but the experience of Black and Power showed.
Poor tackling in the last qtr...we also let them run the ball out of our forward line through the corridor and then to pump it inside 50. Still the need to be accountable.
Still not a clear marking alternative to Fev inside 50.

I was at the game tonight and this is how I saw it.
No passengers.......everyone did their bit which was great.

Pro: Was anyone else blown away by Hammers pace in the 3rd. Where he and Kruezer were 'loaping' along the wing and then all of a sudden Kreuz flicked it out to Hammer who just went BLLLLLLLASSTTTTTTTT and he was away. God he is a big fast unit.

Yep, that was one of those moments for me when I was thinking to myself "Is that guy really 200cms, flower me!!"

That was a great passage in the game. I reckon his confidence is growing by the minute too. I would expect to see him take the No. 1 ruck spot in tandem with 206 next year - provided 206 stays on the park of course.

Kreuz can cause some headaches down forward and float onto the ball every now and then I reckon.

Pros:
Jeffy G, good hands in the dewy conditions

Fev, what can you say

Umps, started to actually have a look

Eddie, people have start looking beyond the stats tally and goals, and just have a look at his forward pressure and clever knock ons and such e.g. Houlihan's goal from the boundary in the 3rd was set up by a tap on from Eddie, running flat out at a ball which was heading over the line.

Cons:

Bowser and Jamo played really really well considering the firepower they were up againts, but in the last half, espec. the last qtr they seemed to be focused too much on the player in contests, resulting in shots at goals from frees, theyve got to learn to bcak themselves and use whats been working the whole game for them.

Slacking off, im going to put it down to cockiness and playing like millionaires in the opening mins of the last, thinking that a 5 goal buffer is enough and coasting out the back and running off your player isnt good enough.

Grigg, got killed by Black in the last, played better when he wasnt focused on a negating role.

Anyone know what time the ONE HD replay is on, on tuesday?

I finish my english exam at 10:30, so hopefully i can be home in time to watch it.

For those talking about the pace of Hammer. At some pre-season testing Hammer was close to the quickest on out list over 20 metres. Only talking about 5 strides probably helps

Like all good Coaches Ratts learns from his mistakes.
Workrate and intensity far better
AJ, Army, Browney and Hammer are all stepping up.

Cons
Not happy Black got away so much in the last but Grigga is short of a gallup.
Broken tackles.

Regards Cazzesman

The tackles were a worry, but less of a worry than previous years, if that makes sense. This year when they broke them, it was a lot more to do with guys being off balance than just being swatted aside like we've done in previous years against the Lions....

I think we were in position to make 60% more tackles than the fateful day 2 years ago....

Besides the woeful commentary:

Channel 10 feel the need to show the coaches box more often than the actual game...if we had the audio it may be useful but purpose does it actually serve?

Showing constant replays so we miss kickouts, ball ups, centre square ball ups, throw ins.

I would love Quarterbrain, Walls and Hudson (and the rest of the commentators) to try to watch a game on TV and see how they find having the game interrupted by irrelevent replays, shots of the coaches box or some nuff nuff in the crowd.

Great night out. Once we got in front after the game settled down, I always felt we were in control. Until the last.

Been following Carlton for some time now, and not for a long time has my heart beaten so fast during the first half of that last quarter.

Got to high five most of the boys as they came off the ground. And Braddles too.

The only con is, I had the perfect opportunity to obtain Russell's autograph on my Record, and he was profiled in it, but I had given back the pen I borrowed.

PROS:
Almost everything. Hard to fault anyone, awesome win.
ARMFIELD
GARLETT
AJ
THORNTON
BOWER
And all the seniors - seemed like the first true full-team effort since round one. FANTASTIC

CONS:
Grigg didn't seem to be up to it in parts... but still played ok
Not being able to lock it up and get our hands on centre clearances in the final quarter... was really frustrating and they could have made us pay.

So many more pros than cons, absolutely fantastic game.

Also Pro:

JR in final huddle when they were singing the song.
All the controversy and bitching aside, was glad that he stepped back for a week and the team was better for it.

Great Team Performance !
