Can we re-open the Russell thread on talking players please....just for a day come on please...

Two active threads during the week and 6 on the weekend - welcome to the new TC

Locking away an assett is plain ridiculous. I wont say what I really think about those who made the Bjelke-Peterson type decisons...or was it the Chinese Censorship Commission which made the decision?

TC has been grossly devalued by closing down the Players thread; the real differentiator between Club public forums. Not enough thought gone into the decision. Yeah some thought, but not balanced.

TC is now a forum which reflects the voice of the moderator.

Heard of democracy? It's the opposite of dictatorship.

I feel very strongly about this, not only because it's the antithesis of a public forum and freedom of speech, but because the forum is so now thin in Carlton content and unless you want to focus on movies, music and non footy related threads...well it's thin. If that's what the Moderators wanted to attract, then it should be renamed to Talking Moderators who barrack for Carlton.

DEMOCRACY RULES everyone

bb there is something called the Issues thread where your concerns can be raised.

As excited as everyone is about JR being dropped, you might look a bit sheepish if he comes in on Saturday.

Let's tone the excitement levels.

For all the Russell haters, who are you going to blame for losses when he is not playing? He is not the reason we have lost games this year. With his omission will we have no 'clangers' or 'indecision' or players 'disappearing for large parts of the game'? It would seem from reading this thread that with him out, we will be unbeatable... :screwy:

Really hope he doesn't read any of this rubbish. Remember he has played more AFL games than everyone on this site combined.

The vitriolic cheering of Jordan Russell's omission from the side by Carlton supporters saddens me greatly. I can only imagine that the posters concerned have no children of their own. To try is to achieve, and most parents encourage their children to have a go knowing that at the end of the day they may not make it. Parents are proud when their children try their best and ask for nothing more. Neither should supporters of football clubs. Show respect for those that have a go.

The sad thing about reading the selections and seeing Russell as an out was that the first thing I thought of was how happy this place would be. And I wasn't disappointed in that respect. This forum sponsors him, and to see so much blatant celebrating of his omission is a little sad. Yes I understand why people are happy that he's been omitted, but discretion, valour etc etc.

Probably the best selections the MC could make really. Austin possibly unlucky, but otherwise I'm happy.

Also, see signature.

I like JR, but reckon it's for the best he's dropped down to the Ants and maybe get a bit of confidence up

I find the reaction of some posters towards the omission of Jordan Russell absolutely disgusting.

Hear hear!!!!

And the same for posters who time and again bag young players who are giving it everything because they're not instant champions. Supporters should SUPPORT.

And even sadder is when CFC supporters go on the radio and cheer his omission as a few did tonight.

Can't say that I am wildly confident that the ins are fit and will all play - or will play to their potential. Fingers crossed I guess.

Outs understandable if the ins are fit, but why then fight the 1 week suspension for Robbo? No doubt there is a logical answer...

Austin will be back in a few weeks. Progressing nicely, unlucky to make way for team balance / experience mix and definitely appears to have a future.

Russell would probably be a more effective player now if he had been dropped occasionally in recent years. It does actually do players some good to be dropped sometimes when they are a little borderline and need to hone their skills at the weaker level. Personally I hope he takes this opportunity.

I am extremely disappointed that the angst at the MC over his continued inclusion has contributed to the closure of one of the most important and interesting parts of this site. On the other hand there is less to read here now and I haven't been spending so much time on the site which is good for my work, if not for my sanity. I work in an area where the majority are regularly punished for the actions of a few and it grates on me bigtime. Understand the concerns and the moderators' difficulties of constantly policing the site, (which I would imagine most of us greatly appreciate) but surely the individual player threads copping the most heated debate could have been closed for a cooling off period rather than closing the lot. Not at all happy about it.

Let's put this in perspective. The people who are bagging the forum members here for being happy that Russell has been omitted (pending any late changes) should take a chill pill.

I for one, have been unhappy with Russell's performances lately and is happy that he has been dropped. However, and I trust that I speak for the pro Russell omission group, my happiness is not because I don't like Russell as a person. I am happy because I don't think he is in the type of form at the moment to warrant selection.

So before getting on your high horses and knocking the people here for "celebrating" Russel's omission, understand that it is not personal.

Well I'm not sure that any of the In's are ready to be In. Would love to have been a fly on the wall at the MC meeting.

I hate interstate games...apologies to our interstate brethren, but I'm greedy and want ot attend every game at home.

His task is to play the invisible man and he has done it magnificently...

now back to match ups...I prefer Gibbs running with Black and anyone (and I mean anyone) other than Thornton on Brown.
