I heard Andrew on ABC news this afternoon say that he may be back for Round 13.

He said he is fitter than ever & that he hopes to play 1 game for the Ants mainly to test his confidence in his shoulder & then if the club thinks he is ready into the 1's

If the all clears are given, and every medical box is checked... damn. So happy.

What an unbelieveable plus this guy would be right now in the absence of Waite.

Puts him at a round 14 return Doc, I think that's not too shabby.

What's your take on his training performance? I can't seem to recall a lot said in your notes.

I would err on the side of caution as well.

But this is fantastic news - best of luck 1AW.

Andrew is the best trainer I've seen at the club. Doesn't take any shortcuts and almost has to be told to stop. His commitment is outstanding and he deserves every success that comes his way because he puts so much in. Of late, he's looked great - however yet to resume with the main training group.

So one would assume once he resumes full contact the shoulder is 100%?

Moving away from that, I think this club along with several others has gotten overly fixated on the concept of 'match fitness'. I understand there is most certainly a step up between training and match intensity, and I would hope it is always the case, no matter how hard you prepare. Having said that, I think the VFL system is very mediocre in providing this for most of the positions of our game.

When you have blokes who are supreme trainers like Judd, Carrazzo, Wiggins & Walker, I have no problem with getting them back in the mix once their touch is about. If that means no VFL, I am comfortable with that. The gap between the VFL and AFL is too wide for it to be a proving ground for physical performance. The backwards kick rule has compounded this.

Wow this would be great news if it happens.......only if his shoulder is 100% however. If he needs to wait a few more weeks then so be it.

Great news

They surely won't be taking any risks with Andy. The boys will be really pumped to have him out there, and he would just add so much to the team

Awesome news

Great news for Andy and we could really use his hardness around the contests.

Great news for all concerned but remember last year when he came back too early?
PLEASE resist the temptation to do it again. He has too much to offer to put it at risk again.
Having said that, I would love to see him on the park ASP.
50 cente each way anyone?

Sorry, forgot.
Shouldn't this be in the 'talking players' forum?

Must say I am incredibly impressed by Andrew's positive outlook. It would appear he has gone well beyond expectations to physically and also mentally get back as soon as he can. Obviously there is a concern over coming back prematurely, but the club's medicos surely would not let him come back too quick, so that should put to rest that concern.

Just a terrific work ethic, and desire and confidence.

Well done Andrew, you certainly deserve a bit of luck now given how well you have responded to this latest set back.
