I thought Austin played his best game yet last week and really, he didnt deserve to be dropped at all. It probably has something to do with bringing in more experiance to play intersate rather than anything else...hopefully he'll be back soon. About time JR got dropped but still, I'm very disappointed with the decision regarding Austin.

Finally, Finally, Finally gone for a bit of run from defence and a lot more ball winning ability.

Disappointed Austin out, would of dropped Setanta instead as they can both play fwd or back and Aussie is the future.

Disappointed Grigg in ahead of Anderson or even Bannister. Form obviously doesn't mean much and Grigg looks short of a run.

Having said that one of the more balanced sides we have picked all year.

Grigg not so much short of a run (getting plenty of it in Ants), but it can be argued short on form.

Still, he's better than mids going out and hopefully last week's run brings him up to speed for this week.

Austin's exclusion is purely to balance the team. We regularly get exposed for height in defence against Brisbane, Setanta brings that.

Austin doesn't have Jamo's closing speed and his form was no better than Thornton or Bower's. Fisher kicked a bag last week and met what I would deem his KPIs with flying colours. Austin was holding a lower class of player, and while performing well, all this meant he was surplus. Thems the breaks.

We should obliterate them in the ruck. Mitch Clark had a field day against McIntosh, who is clearly feeling the pinch from Laidley's persistence in using Hale as a permanent forward. Goldstein is another year away at least. Kreuzer and Hampson will give him no time to rest.

Disappointed for Austin, but really happy with these changes. If we're feeling good about the remaining back three to do the job, might get to see Fisher in the Wiggins role and Setanta/Kreuzer/Hampson busting packs. If not, there's always Grigg or Carrots. Flexibility, and run!

YAY

Given Brown is most likely their only tall forward with Bradshaw playing down back, it would be hard to go into the match with Austin-Bower-Thornton-Jamison. They would have no one to play on - they have small/medium forwards such as Hooper, Polkinghorne and occassionally Rich so the change had to be made.

He was impressive in the first half last week so hopefully when matchups permit he'll be back in the team. Has a lot to offer.

A couple of posts regarding the omission of Russell are very, very disappointing. Disgraceful, really.

The vitriol directed his way is not only disappointing and disgraceful coming from within our own ranks but completely over the top. He's a footballer. The way a few too many celebrate his shortcomings and failures as such are quite sickening.

That's all.

I'm of the opinion we could lose another tall, so if the injury charts are right and Russell gets some more competition for a spot, he might not be back for a while.

Nothing against him, our talls have been performing so well they've been keeping mids out of the team. Fisher and Setanta only have a week of form on their backs though so if they both go, he could be back inside a fortnight (I say this without knowing who we have after St Kilda).

If he had copped the one week suspension, his slate would be clean. He would have missed a week of footy though.

Now he has 93 points hanging over his head and will be gone next time, but at least he gets an extra week of footy at a decent level.

Very surprised he is out given they contested to get the points down only(like they wanted him to play this week), as you said he now has the timebomb hanging over him. Might be a late change coming?!

Many would say this about his continual inclusion.

Why is Ando even on the list?

He's been consistently good all year and can't even get a look in.

Why not give him a go and army a rest? similar positions

Even if they've been given the all clear now, fitness queries earlier in the week would have convinced them into lodging an appeal.

I would suggest Russell to come in before him. The next blokes in our midfield group with a clean bill of health are Hadley, Yarran & Bannister. Slim pickings when you consider form/fitness.

Walker and Johnson are going to be huge bonuses over the next month.

Very happy . The best team we could have picked with the players available .

Austin is only out because of match-ups . He'll get plenty of chances soon enough .

Russell , well I don't reckon anybody will miss him . Has been a passenger for too long . No doubt he will get more chances anyway .

If we have a red-hot go we can win it .

I think they're a bit silly too. But the vitriol seems to come more from the wowsers than the anti-Russell faction. This sort of wowserism got Talking Players shut down

They seem to have friends in high places around here...

Haha it only took Russell 25 out of the last 30 SHIT games to be dropped!!

Finally!!

Don't like the other outs so much tho... perhaps mitchy deserved to be dropped but i like his agression and willingness to compete and I think Austin is really showing good signs. Good to see Garlett get another go tho

Wowserism had nothing to do with it. But anyway...

Cain Ackland is probably reading this site wondering why Russell gets off so lightly...

Like the changes though, Ratts and the MC have obviously made a decision about bigger bodies for interstate travel and will live or die by their decisions.

I reckon we should get across the line by a few goals.
