yeah rest your full back when you're coming up against Brown and Bradshaw

From what i have seen Jamison cant lift his arms. Probably has lost strength due to not being able to do weights and had six kicked on him last week by a lightweight. I think Bradshaw will have a field day on him.

I just reckon our backline has no dash and is too tall. He is the one i would drop/rest.

Just my opinion.

Nice team. I would rest a beaten up and out of form Jamison and name Russell.

Need more run out of the back half.

Not muckraking but I've never seen that as a reason to keep Russell in a team before. I'd much rather have ANderson in if you wanted run from defence. Has Russell ever taken a bounce and ran the ball at AFL level?

Jamo stays at FB given his great track record on Bradshaw, who remains too strong for Bower or Austin. Fair enough he (Bradshaw) may need to go to defence but we have to get those defensive match-ups right. Id keep Jamo in and use this as a chance for Austin to lead out from HF.

Last quarter against the hawks Russell was very good out of the back half. But....
I wasnt meaning play russell back. Just thought we could use scotland simpson or stevens our of there and Russell another running on baller/tagger around the ground. I do like the andersen call.

On to the important questions....where's the best pub for a beer pre-game?

Storey Bridge Hotel, one of THE great pubs.

True, it is - but very trendy, and very expensive.

I prefer the less salubrious, but more welcoming 'Aussie Nash' or Australian National Hotel - just across Stanley St from the outer or school end of the Gabba.
They usually have live music on match nights, and they rock on till about 2 am. A year or two back the resident band was Mick and the Shakers - fronted by Mick Hadley (ex Purple Hearts).
I've had some very memorable nights at the Aussie Nash - usually after a Carlton win.

They've got two gun key forwards. Apart from that, can't see any other obvious advantage "personnel" wise...

Bradshaw will be playing down back on Fev and will double team him with another inexperienced player until the game is secured for Bris, then he will go forward....thats what Voss said recently

They don't hold an advantage in the midfield however we will have to be on our game...... Black, Power, Brennan, Rich, Adcock, Johnstone, Drummond and Sherman is an impressive lineup.

The Lions are a strong tackling team .. but as we witnessed Round 2 when they lapse they can be slaughtered. Make the most of our opportunities and we'll win again.

Jamo is simply too much of a risk starting on either Bradshaw or Brown IMO. If we stuff these match ups up, we could be 4 goals down at 1/4 time. That said, if the midfield doesn't apply pressure and stem the flow it won't matter who plays on who, we'll be in big trouble.

I disagree Hellas - i think the Lions have 4 trump cards and not much else )in terms of match winners) so its worth taking a guy into a game with a slight question mark given his proven performances against one of those trump cards. Bradshaw almost stole the game for them earlier in the year against a smaller (physically) Bower. Bower took a little while to hit his straps in 2009 - about Round 4 from memory - but to try Bower on him would be too risky in my view.

Id much prefer the spring and rebound from Bower on Austin on lesser opponents, and perhaps have one assist in double teaming Brown like we've tried in the past.

I can see the point you're making but the Bower of round 2 wasn't the Bower we have now IMO and if you take into account his job on Bradshaw last year then it's 1-1 in my book. I think he's earned another shot (at Bradshaw).

If Carrazzo is fit he has to come back into the side.

Not sure if we need both Grigg AND Scotland to come in, maybe just one.
I think Anderson deserves a game but not sure Ratts will want to swing too many changes.

Everyone keeps talking about the twin towers, but I reckon if our midfield can get on top then Fev should have a field day...

Power whilst needed to be respected, has been playing shite football this year for the most part. He used to be a great player and may still produce it again, but with a bit of luck it wont be this weekend. Black just keeps on going. Adcock is another that hasn't produced the form of previous years. Brennan is as likely to be a liability as he is to be a match winner. let's hope this week he is the former. Rich is young and before last week had had a bit of a lull... mind you last week was his best game so far. Johnstone was droppped last week and may or may not play. If he does, he needs a minder because he has the ability to slaughter us, particularly after getting a sting from being dropped. Drummond is a good player and as someone pointed out is their go to out of defence.

A defensive forward on Drummond is a must IMO. Would also like to see how Rich would go with a hard tag, with a mind to switch the tag if another mid starts having too much of an influence. They have been in good form, Brisbane, but I reckon we're good enough. If we play our best football and they play their best football, we win. whether we can manage our best football interstate remains to be seen. the blues by 15 points, but without any real confidence

For this one : Scotland , Carazzo , Grigg in . Armfield , Russell , Robinson out .

Carazzo to take Drummond . Setanta to Brown . Bower to get first crack at Bradshaw , but make a move quickly if it's not working .
Fisher to play deep in the forward line ( mainly behind Fev ) . He'll kick another 3 !

We can win , but everybody , including Ratten , will have to be at their best .

Nearly there. Rd 2 this year Jamo went down v Lions just before half time, but it was Bower who was injured in TD game v Lions last year.
