Bet Voss was peeved at the Courier Mail Sub-editors today:
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/spor ... 69,00.html

The print version had the headline "Carlton's Fab Four Just Pale Imitation"..... Online has much softer headlines like"Blues have way to go"..... :)

Wonder if I should send a copy of the headline to the club....?? :)

Hmmm...move to Melbourne? Great weather, great cafes, great golf courses, home to the Carlton Football Club, great city all round.

Golf Courses are great...pity about the blokes you end up playing with at times

Exact same situation in Adelaide this week. :banghead:

The match won't be broadcast anywhere in Adelaide (not on FTA, Fox, or radio) until Tuesday 9th 1:00PM AEST. :donk:

Well that flowers me either way!!!! Go back home or stay in Radelaide??? Either way no Live Blues for me :( AFL need to do something about this. Why can't the "local" team be on FTA and the "other" game on Fox Sports?????

Hopefully the internet will come to the rescue..... :smoking:

Only hope we travel a lot better than we have so far this year.....

According to Dr Sherrin's training report Scotland was in the rehab group at training today which suggests he is probably unlikely for this week.

No Change is looking a real possibility however I really hope Grigg is brought into the side.

No one is finished for the year after only 9 rounds. There's another 13 games (14 weeks) for players to improve.

Anyone who plays the in and under role will spend half their time fighting for the ball contesting an the floor. That's partly why Hadley and Bentick are not seen as being too flashy. It's a tough gig and someone has to do it. AJ tags, and doesn't get heaps of possessions but he plays a role. So do the in and under players.

I'm not advocating Hadley return this week...I'll leave that to the MC, but I am saying he's not finished and just has to pick up his form a bit. In the last game Hadley played against Freo, he got loose so many times and the passes to him were appalling. You can't blame him for not presenting or finding space to expose his opponent for that.

Teague mentioned that with Scotland's injury against Collingwood was a neck injury, but that it may also have been a hamstring. I hope he's ready to come into the fold.

I would like to see both Carrots and Scotto back if they are fit.

Garlett replaced Yarran because of Yarrans commitment to attend a funeral interstate. Given the game Garlett played I can't see him being replaced. Ratts said last night (OTC) that they have found out that Garlett can play at this level; that's what you find when you challenge the kids.

Our strength this weekend will be our height advantage and there's will be thr run they generate from the backline and link through the middle. We must shut down one of their backmen and have Fev, Santy and Kreuzer/ Hammer expose them in the forwardline. In fact with Jamo, Bower, Thronton and Austin in in the backline, I would say that we are a bit too top heavy and need 3 runners in our backline. Stop Hooper and Sherman in the forwardline (Armfield, Joseph or Browne). Naturally we will be hard tagging Brown and Bradshaw.

If Bradshaw plays back then Brennan will play forward. Then who is going to ruck for them other than the very athletic Kennedy?

Black is the dangerman. I think OJ can tag him, but because of Blacks size advantage, I can't see OJ being as effective on Black as he was with Kerr. My gut feeling is to tag Black with Carrots.

I really think we're going to win this one. I'm sure Ratts has learned alot about his troops in the first 9 rounds and is conscious of getting the balance (experience and kids) right and minimising the risks at the time of selection.

I'd have Gibbs running with Black...who's OJ?

bondi meant AJ [Joseph] Juddy.

Thanks DUC.

Yeah, I meant AJ.

I also meant to type Mitch Clark, not Kennedy.

JR hasn't reached the lofty heights I wanted (yet, like a slow cooker, will take time), but I'm telling everyone Grigg will be a star in the second half of the year, very valuable player with his size around the ball and takes the game on. I'm hoping he gets the call up this week.

Interesting that Ratts commented earlier in the week about making the mistake of taking too many inexperienced players interstate.

Would like to see Carazzo given a game in the Ants before coming back into the side, but would like to see Scotland and Grigg back into the side !!!!!!!!!! Think on of Armfield/Browne would be very lucky, but miss out, and would like to see Grigg in for Russel but think it would be more likely that one of Robinson (crazy since we just faught his suspension), Garlett (VERY unlucky, like what he adds to the side and showed some class) or Austin (Again VERY unlucky, but our defence is a little top heavy with Bower, Jamison, Thornton, Carlos and Austin all in the side, and Grigg and Scotland are both predominantly defenders) missing out.

So it would be
In. Scotland and Grigg
Out. Prefered outs would be Browne and Russel but likely out would be one of Browne/Armfield and one of Robinson/Garlett/Austin

I agree that Carrots should come back via the Bullants and also agree there is a danger of being a little top-heavy but maybe we can use that to our advantage. But I certainly cannot understand how you would have Browne as one of your preferred outs - he had a very solid game on Friday.

IMHO, the one change that should be made is Grigg for Russell. If Scotland is available, which is apparently doubtful, then I would probably drop Armfield.

I have a good feeling about this one.

We've beaten them last 2 times and I just think we will turn up to play.....if we turn up to play we have a chance...if we don't turn up to play I'll be calling for someones head...dunno who yet but someones.

I think either Armfield or Browne would be EXTREMELY unlucky to be dropped, but see both playing very similar roles and edge Armfield above Browne slightly as he provides a little but more run and carry IMO.

If we were playing a smaller side then I would suggest that Carlos gets dropped so both could stay in, but I think he will be valuable down back against the tall timber of B & B, so unfortunately one of Browne and Armfield would be the unlucky guy missing out ............

Fair enough, just have to agree to disagree on who should be the unlucky one

Well here's my take:

FB: Joseph Jamison Bower
HB: Scotland Austin Thornton
C : Browne Gibbs Simpson
HF: Grigg Fisher Stevens
FF: Betts Fevola Garlett
RR: Kreuzer Judd Murphy
Int: O'hAilpin Hampson Armfield Houlihan

Out: Russell, Robinson (general soreness)
In: Scotland, Grigg

Would actually like to keep Russell in or bring back Yarran and drop a tall. The candidates for that would be Austin and Fisher, but they're both performing well at the moment, so I can't see the MC going with that.

I'd expect to see Thornton and Austin regularly up forward, and Setanta posted on Brown. If we get arrogant about facing a ruck division consisting only of Mitch Clark, Hammer could miss.

Personally, I think we're too tall again, but I think we have enough quick smaller players to counter the Lions' weapons in that department.

Nice team. I would rest a beaten up and out of form Jamison and name Russell.

Need more run out of the back half.

Not muckraking but I've never seen that as a reason to keep Russell in a team before. I'd much rather have ANderson in if you wanted run from defence. Has Russell ever taken a bounce and ran the ball at AFL level?

Jamo stays at FB given his great track record on Bradshaw, who remains too strong for Bower or Austin. Fair enough he (Bradshaw) may need to go to defence but we have to get those defensive match-ups right. Id keep Jamo in and use this as a chance for Austin to lead out from HF.
