I think Ratts will get better at this, the longer he's in the game. He seems to me a bit wary of giving anything away and tends to go with the politically correct (meaning bland and safe) option in his responses.

Coaches like Paul Roos and Ross Lyon have shown that you can be more open and honest without actually jeapordising what happens on game day. Hopefully Ratts will let his hair down a bit over the journey.

Right now, Brett's interview's leave me pretty cold - but I aint got no issue with that - as long as we win!

Agree with Teddy.

Not sure if it's inexperience, or whatever, but Ratts really keeps his cards close to his chest.

My gut feel is he is genuinely not sure about things, and therefore keeps a lid on the whole thing.

Maybe the slippery slope we have been on since R2 has caused this.

Maybe Ratts could buy a book of riddles and start something new?

Just out of interest, what would you have liked him to say that he didn't?

You can talk about the development of the kids like joseph jacobs gatlett bower etc...
you can talk about what we did try and how were moving into the next phase.
There is a heap of things u can actually say that will put a more positive perception on whats going on.

but when stuff looks like a muddle.. and he isnt saying anything... the perception is he is not positive about where were at...

... and thats how i read him...

I thought Ratts did well considering what questions he ws asked and the time he was given.

The interview was possibly cut back due Wallet Gate and he can only answer what he is asked

Anyway agreed with some answered the questions in a no nonsense manner

Thanks VB

Ok, let me put it another way...and this is open for anyone to answer.

Take any of the questions that were asked and tell us how Ratten answered and how you would have liked him to answer.

Your stuff is getting weirder by the day.... lol

Look... he went for an interview on telly... and he came away looking defensive and closed.

Great interview...

Why did you watch it?

I have seen quite a few interviews of Ratts and he is normally very articulate and informative.

I don't know why Ratts is getting bagged on here, the direction of the interview is dictated by GH and once he got his bee out the bonnet re: waites knee, he seemed to lose interest. Also he looked like he was given instruction to keep on schedule, which gives the impression that he was guarded/cold.

Did you notice how his arms were resting on the arm rest? I thought he looked uncomfortable about being there. Maybe he has something to hide that he didn't want anyone to know about.

It was 10 minutes and he would have been told that he only had 10 minutes.

There is no conspiracy here about what he didn't say or what he should have said.

How many Brownlow votes would Judd have Brett?

Well, I gave him my 3 on Friday.

Not at all budzy but I do know how TV works thru spending time working there but if you want to think that there was something amiss with his segment, then go for it.

Judging from Fevs response to Watson after the game i get the impression the blues are over all this media stuff.

Ratts gave nothing really but that is fair enough. Most coaches do the same. Those that are cruising give a bit more.

Slow news week to get this thread at 4 pages.
