Ratts will be on the couch with Gerard Healy, Mike Sheahan and James Hird.

8.30 on Fox Sports One.

For those that don't have Foxtel, if someone could please provide a summation when it's done, that would be appreciated
:thanks:

Here's a bit of a summary:

Fev:
Played with him, open relationship. Played him up the ground through default more than anything. Goal kicking is fine generally but missed a few but that's the way things are.

The team:
Still need to develop kids. Too many against Adelaide. Balance was wrong.

Finals:
It is the aim this year, but developing kids is more important.

Interstate:
Play more experienced sides.

They Know We're Coming:
Not overly comfortable with it. Reasonable expectation. We need to raise the bar and play finals. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Waite:
Liked Gerard's article. Followed doctors orders. Not 100% on the alternative. Better the devil you know. GH pressed the issue -- conventional method preferred.

Coaching:
Braddles, Harves, etc speaks to Bomber a lot. Braddles doesn't get caught up in the bubble.

Walls' article:
Didn't refer to it too much. Good article.

Judd:
Role model on and off field. Diet. Behaviour. 15 hours a week personal development. Had become a more instructional leader. No comment on Brownlow chances.

O'hAilpin:
No issues at all what so ever after the Cloke incident. Well done on 50 games.

Russell:
Doesn't read supporters mail about JR. Harshly criticised by supporters. His role probably not noticed.

Lions:
Important game. Not travelling well. Need to start well.

Just on JR mentioned his defensive game, which has him 4th in tackles at the club.

Defensive part of his game is really important to the team.

On JR it was a defensive role.

Did he say what JR's role at the club actually was?

It's great that he is 4th in tackles at the club, but what's his role?

Thought Ratts was quite impressive tonight...he doesn't waffle or leave ambiguous statements hanging for the journos to pounce on them. Makes a comment and then stares at them to say "Right, move on, what's next?"

It was a short interview I thought too.

Thanks verbs.

I found some of the responses perplexing, particularly around the priority being developing the kids, and playing more experienced sides interstate, yet the expectation at the start of the year was playing finals, and now playing finals is second fiddle?

I recall at the start of the season that Ratts mentioned if we didn't play finals this year, the year would be considered a failure. Is it a case of having an "out" with the line of developing the kids as the priority as a way of saving face with the Carlton faithful?

Must admit that struck me as an interesting comment too, Wangers.

At the start of the year it was finals, finals, finals! And now it seems like it's "well, finals would be good, but the kids will get all the game time they need"

Is that a slight against our mature players or is Ratts losing faith in a finals birth already?

Think he was more saying that at the start of the year that was the aim, but after some losses it wouldn't be the be all for the year.

He still seems focussed on developing the kids but acknowledged that travelling interestate the balance has been wrong.

Ratts said finals are the goal of the club, but also getting the mix right in developing kids as well, this led to the response of playing probably too many kids interstate and going with a more experienced team.

Interesting that the interview only went for 10 minutes. The standard time for the guest on that show is about 20 minutes each week.

Most of the questions he simply did not answer. Which is fair enough, he doesn't have to.

My personal opinion is you either sell the club or you don't. If you don't want to do interviews don't do them, if you do, then offer something interesting and some hope for the fans.

The interview normally occurs much earlier in the show too.

Will be interesting to see what time Roos clocks in next week.

Very disappointing interview compared to interviews with Ross Lyon & Rodney Eade.

I also thought it was cut short as they wasted 10 minutes on that bullshit with that Cousins character :banghead:

Was a good interview.

No need to over analyze anything and turn it into a negative. He said we are very focused on getting to the finals and said at the same time conscious of getting games into kids. He didnt back away from anything.

Was only a short answer on the russell as healy was keen to end the interview as they were going over. Said alot of his work goes unoticed and the defensive side of his game is very important to us. Mentiond tackle count.

Spoke well but can improve.

The questions were rubbish...the usual questions on Setanta and Fev.

It highlighted once more how little the media know when it comes to the issues affecting each club's performance/future.

I don't see any problem with the change of focus from finals finals finals.

That aim will remain, but it was a mistake to get ahead of ourselves, and he speaks as if it's been recongised and corrected. It really should be about week to week and finals will take care of themselves if it gets that far.

obviously you could say that he's looking for 'an out', but I'd prefer to think that they've adjusted their focus (week to week) rather than adjusting their season aim.

That's got to be good thing, surely.
