Great game I hear from the Fish man.

Poses the question, are there better things on the way? There is a gap that needs filling alongside Fev and Fish might be that man.

Second chance, shades of Lazarus?

I say, Dix to those who have bagged him in the past... I'd love to see him do well for the club, but would be equally happy to show up the peanuts that have shitcanned him in the past.

Same goes for JR, though he hasn't quite got the runs on the board yet...

Yeah, never bagged him myself but have seen the posts ... was good today but will make up my mind next week ... same effort ... then he's a gun!

For those that bagged him, it was always because he never kicked the goals he should have. He kicked 3 tonight, which is a great return.

But now he needs to back that up next week as taking marks and kicking goals is what is expected from a forward.

Looking forward to seeing him quieten a few people up over the next few weeks.

Good game last night so good on him. Can he do it consistently? History suggests not.

He was good last night, which no one could say about many games he played in 2008.. He actually kicked pretty straight!

We had no opposition last night.

Fisher is to slow and no way can we play Houlihan and Fisher play in the same team together.

He's a great mark but thats about it.

I want to see him step up in games that count...not against an embaressingly weak West Coast.

For a key forward, his failure to kick 45 metres in the final quarter (Fevola mark) should pose some serious questions.

I like Fish and hope he cements a place in our team but im not that confident in him.

Cannot kick more than 40 metres from set shot.
Witness his shot at goal inside 50 metre mark which Fev marked in goal square.
Lack of range, accuracy and size mean he is no CHF.
His only role is as marking forward pocket.

He is a liability. If we are relying on the likes of Fisher, Banno and Houlihan to take us forward than we might as well pack up shop.

To hear people ring up radio stations last night praising Fishers or asking why Banno isn't playing worries me.

Fish ain't going to be a key forward but he contributed 3 goals last nite which is a great return from the 3rd tall fwd.

So one of his kicks fell short, a few of them didn't, give the bloke a break. Not every player in the team will be a star, not all will play all 22 games. All you can ask is those that come into the side contribute, and Fish certainly did. Great contribution, I hope it continues.

Agree with the first two lines.

Dury is still out on Fisher to produce 2-3 tackles on a weekly basis though. This is the major area alot of people have faulted Fish on. Defensive pressure and going to ground too much after a marking contest.

Let's not get too excited. Certainly helps the structure having his type down there.

But it was against a crap side and he didn't actually take a heap of contested marks. Opponents ran of him a fair few times and goals were the result of turnovers which will not happen against better sides.

The jury is out for me as I will not assess his future until I see him play against Brisbane and St Kilda. That will give a fair indication of where he is at.

Depends how you analyze history? But take a look for yourself.

I for one love having him in the team as our 3rd marking option. What we need is a good CHF. Cloke's been disappointing, I'd like Hartlett to get a chance but can't see it happening. Maybe Kruez, but I love him in the ruck and Kruez also prefers the ruck.

too early to say

Even next week, if he has a good game, will be too early to say.

DUC, Fev never kcks the goals he should - but be is still praised. I'd prefer him from fifty rather than thirty but be still gets the accolades

And Melvey, comparing Fish and Houla is like comparing apples and cricket balls. [edit]

As for Budzy, you've always bagged Fish - so why praise his efforts now?!

Yeah, yeah, a liability who kicked 3 goals, laid a couple of tackles, more contested possessions than 13 other Carlton players. Equal most contested marks on the ground.

'snip'.

Was always going to play like that in his first game back.

Lets see how many tackles he will lay against teams that will use his lack of pace and run off him like the bombers, Cats, Saints, Hawks, Bulldogs, Richmond, Lions and so on

He is in the side because we have injuries and nothing more.

Was great last night.

It's fair enough Melvey to people to say that he still has to prove himself and I agree but for flower sake why so negative? He was put in the team to do a job and he well and truly did his job. For that he and the match committee deserve some praise.

Have a look at Fisher's pace when defending, especially when he's being manned by Hodge (Hawks) or Mackie (Cats)...that's when you'll see what's missing in his game.

Like everyone, I was very happy with his goals last night, in fact celebrated over the top for his first and like a maniac when he kicked his second. I was rapt for him.

He's fantastic overhead mark, and if he's going to remain in the team for his strengths then its going to be amazing if Ratts can devise a way to cover for his pace deficiency going the other way where other teams cut us up...I doubt he can, but I've got my fingers crossed.

Look he was good last night. In fact, I bet those who just read Bullants reports and not watch them would have been surprised by Fisher's inclusion. He got a chance and he grabbed it with 2 hands and kicked 3. Good luck to him.

I wonder if Fisher is in our best 22 if Warnock, Walker, Waite, Scotland, Carrazzo and Grigg are available.

Thought he was very accurate in front of goal, took his chances and provided a reliable option. His work rate was up and he appears to have lost a few kilos while remaining strong through the shoulders and chest so he can use his weight in marking contests.

Was always at his best when he was constantly on the move, and this is how you make up for a lack of burst in today's game. Here's hoping he can keep it up, but at the very least he can be example of how to play a marking role up forward for some of the more talented guys coming through.
