Story from the HUN

Carltons doctor sms'd scotland a few hrs after the game to see how he was

Scotland replied: Im fine, still cant believe we beat Geelong!

He sent another text soon after saying he was kidding...

You were recruited to Carlton during its dark days. With the recent passing of Richard Pratt, can you reflect on how different the club is after his reign?

Very dark days. It’s like chalk and cheese compared to today. On-field obviously we’ve improved but off the field we were really struggling. One preseason, each player needed to buy his own football for training.

WTF?!?!  :donk:

That's just disgraceful. Absolutely. Utterly. Disgraceful!

Round 9 winner was Thornton, with a tap-assist almost worthy of a goal in his own right.

The 135 game veteran with 2 goals to his name seems to have high hopes for a career as a forward!

Oh it's good

Kreuzer handballed it to me and the first thing I thought of was to run as quick as I could. Normally I’d look for the handball, but I’ve got my confidence up a bit these days, after a few games in a row, and I just thought I’d go for it.

M&D: That was a pretty fast run down the wing. How do you rank in terms of sprinting ability in the club?

Hammer: Second actually – over 20 metres. First is Lachie Hill who can run a 2.73s over 20, and I’m just behind him at 2.77.

Hill :donk:
Hammer

But I have to tell you Big Capuano has worked wonders with us – last year we were 16th for hit-outs but you can see the difference this year. There’s also been a real focus on follow-up efforts. Kreuzer is naturally so good at that, but it didn’t really come naturally to me so I’ve been working hard on that. As soon as we can, we have to hit the ground running or tackle them if they’ve got the ball.

Oops, didn't notice that it had been truncated. All good now.

Great article. Thx for posting.

Really excited about Hammer. Our rucks have really come a long way in the past few years, just shows how badly we were hit during the McLaren/Mott/Ackland/McKernan laziness. No one prepared to invest for the future.

Hampson just moves so well for a big guy, and without knowing heaps about ruckwork myself I'd imagine it's probably the most important position to have immense confidence in yourself.

We've obviously picked blokes that are tall, but also mentally strong in that they go at the ruck contest time and time again.

I thought the Kruze/Hampson effort against Cox was a coming of age.

I'm sure I remember a few bagging the appointment of Capuano, simply on the logic that he was an ordinary player.
