Walls put the boot in big time:

Quote:
Changes have to be made. This group cannot be mollycoddled any longer.

Quote:
But question marks hover over this team. Is the playing group collectively hungry enough for success?

Quote:
Is the group prepared to dedicate itself to be the best that it can be? History would say no. Too many indiscretions for too long and still Carlton names in the news for wrong reasons. Being well paid and representing a high-profile, successful club has its advantages. But how many of the current players helped build the high profile and success?

Quote:
And does the coaching staff and management have the smarts and strength to extract more out of the group?

Quote:
Who helps Judd? He carries the team but no one supports the skipper

"THE Blues have problems. They said they were coming, but after a promising start they have stalled, losingfive of their past seven games. Their captain, Chris Judd, can do no more. He leads the way, being No. 1 for his team in disposals, inside 50s, goal assists, tackles, clearances, loose-ball gets, hard-ball gets and handball receives. Jarrad Waite was one of a few busting his backside to help Judd out, but now with a knee injury that will keep him out for the season, things are looking bleak."

My first reaction was you beauty, at least he's not bagging the opposition. But he still managed a dig at the Eagles late in the article. Good one Wallsy

This will no doubt generate some discussion...

Maybe you should check if an identical thread exist before creating one? :screwy:

By and large, there's nothing Walls says in the article which isn't being said here, albeit in a somewhat more strident manner.

We're an exciting young team, or have the potential to be, but without the work, success isn't going to just happen.

The best I've seen for a long time by Robert Walls . . . . Spot on !

Setanta should be a permanent KPP in defence . Thornton in attack is a good move too . With Fev and Fisher as well and Betts , Houla , Garlett / Yarran crumbing , we would look a lot more dangerous up forward .

Judd does need a lot more help in the midfield , and , with Jacobs injured , Hampson has to be given the match time as the 2nd ruckman . ( forget Warnock ) .

Above all , Ratten and co. have to stand up NOW . Make the hard decisions , and no more of these ridiculous selection blunders that have cost us games this season . No more picking players week after week when they aren't doing the job .

This week is our last chance . Lose this one , and we can forget 2009 , and they'll know . . . We aren't coming !

If anything all Wallsy can be accussed of is loving the club too much ... I am really glad to see someone who has the ability to write in the media giving it to the players .... if this does not fire them up nothing will.

In the end its what we have all been thinking ... and finally it is now out in the open and not just on TC and other footy forums.

I have been saying they are young and need time ... YES ... thats true ... but playing without heart, not protecting Judd and for the senior players not stepping up ... is inexcusable.

And I think that is exactly what Wallsy was getting at.

To all those who says he is only doing it to sell papers ... pull yer heads in ... if you were him with his ability to vent your spleen to the media you probably would have done it after the Freo loss. He at least waited until the wheels seemed to have fallen off the Carlton locamotive good and proper.

2 thumbs up for me Wallsy you are a true blue!

They shouldn't need firing up from media articles.

If they have any self pride in their performances, they will perform tonight.

Not sure if Wallsy isn't a TCer given some of his suggestions sound familar.

An article shouldn't be a reason to rev up the players but I hope it revs up the MC to perhaps look at things differently and try differently things.

As Gerard Healy says in the Hun re the option we took on Waitey instead of the Malceski option, flat earth knee thinking is so living in the 80s.

Good article.

Exactly what has been discussed here at TC.

Fisher got off lightly in the article imo. I don't think Walls knows about Fisher's pace issue. I guess he's looking at his marking power and potential goals he can add to this team for the purpose of kicking a winning score.

We have to beat all the final 8 contenders and probably expose our deficiencies against the top 3 Hawks, Saints and Cats.

Spot on Wallsy. It's about time someone said publicly what we all think in here.

Did Walls' "bottom six" article get us a win? He's becoming obsessed with Carlton.

No mention of Murph, good thing I suppose.

Spot on about players blocking, harrasing for Judd. I think we should groom Carrazzo into that role, hes not afraid of a bit of biff.

Setanta should be full back cos he wouldnt have to worry about the game all around him.
Just ahead of him....

Its time for the club to take collective responsibility - if this is our line in the sand game so be it - take the game on and back ourselves.

You beauty, it had to be said.

His reference to the "praise" Fev gets for doing the "givens" of AFL, i.e. chasing and tackling, was so flowering on the money.

This is a great day IMO..

Both the age and the hun are having goes at the club and individual players.

Were going to thrash the eagles by 100 points tonight and then play like retards the week after...
