Its funny how people see different things .. crazy aint it. I believe Russell has been very good for us this year ... hard to understand the nasty criticism. Sure he has his weaknesses ... but on the whole ... he has been good ... so there u go.

Well said, there would be quite a few more players on our team that should be dropped before him. A lot more... :sly:

I don't mean to bait but I am curious who deserves to be dropped before Russell who had played every game?

The only one who would come even remotely close is Simpson and at the end of the day, Simpson>Russell.

He does the team things, he works hard on and off the ball, trains hard and has improved. Thats why he is in the team.

NEWS FLASH!!!! he is and never going to be a superstar but so what, he will be a good footballer and contributor.

Sick of dumb arse fat armchair supporters ringing SEN bagging the hell out of JR. I bet many of you who ring have are those people who have never played football, never played sport, never played a team sport but think they are experts. NFI

He has improved and has plenty of more improvement to come and is young.

What has Nick Stevens contributed to the team over the last two years??? A senior leader of the club who wanted to captain this club.

WOW. You're pretty passionate about Russell aint you? I've never bagged him but you must be blinded by man love. This kid has all the attributes to be anything yet he is nothing much at the moment. You also don't do yourself any favours bagging Stevens at the end of your post. I don't see the relevance.

But seriously tell opposition supporters that Russell has contributed more than Stevens and they will die of laughter. And if you do go back two years, you'll find that Stevens was recovering from a pretty serious neck injury :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

It's one thing to have an opinion, but I get very  :banghead: about the way some posters express their opinions...

I cannot understand posters that say things like 'the MC are a [REDACTED]', 'the MC is a joke' etc just because they disagree with a team selection :screwy:

It's great to speculate, ponder, predict, but let's face it....none of us have access to all the information/data that the MC does, none of us are 100% privy to the inner workings of the club, none of us have spent all week studying the opposition's structure/personnel/gameplan, and most (none?) of us have the football credentials to be on an AFL MC.

That doesn't mean our MC are always right, but people around here who pass their (largely ill-informed) opinions off as established facts are the real 'jokes'......

......IMO

This part, not so yay.... He hasn't had 100% blinders, but he's been solid, and he's had a heap of blinders in the last 2 years. Down on form at the moment, but crazy to say it's 2 years of nothing.

Id like to think Setanta can be allowed to play full back!

I'm not with you on this one Synners.

IMHO, Setanta doesn't quite have the football nous to play full back. As quick as he is, he doesn't quite have the reading of the play required to keep up with a full forward on the lead. I think Setanta has always looked more comfortable out at CHB. Here, his pace and mobility are great assets, but he doesn't have to be as precise to keep up with his opponent.

It's always been a question of where to play him. I think his best spot is CHB, although I am not sure that he is/will be our best option at CHB. This week, however, I would like to see him play as second ruck to Hampson, allowing Kreuzer to play all night at CHF.

I can understand the thinking of rotating Yarran with Garlett. At the moment we should try to carry one of them each week as an investment in 2010. Yarran looked better last week and is going to be a joy to watch. Garlett a little lucky but he does have x-factor. I hope he goes ok this week.

Setanta had to come in purely for his verstility. There have been at least two occasions this year when his versatility would have allowed us to cover a key position when one of our players went down early in the game.

Houlihan a bit lucky to be back in assuming the Ants reports are correct. Fev will be pleased though. I wonder is it a coincidence that Fev has only kicked 2.6 in the last three rounds? Ryan looked a much better player in the opening rounds when Robinson and Garlett were providing plenty of forward line defensive pressure. Not so good when that wasn't happening. Hopefully there might be a bit more collective defensive pressure in the f50 this week.

Hadley is one of a number of more physically mature players who haven't been able to get into it in recent games.
Looking at who is available after injuries (and there are a lot of them now) I am not sure who I would have selected to replace Wiggins.
Sensible to give Grigg another game in the 2s with his limited preparation. Don't want to risk a hammy, etc.

Would have gone with Anderson or Bannister to free up one of Austin or Thornton to play forward. Perhaps Kreuzer will get some time there. Last chances for Fish.

Indeed! Enjoy the game Grro - I just got someone's corporate tickets to next week's Lion slaying, so I'm only a week away from seeing the boys again myself!

Can't wait till we string some wins together so all these people can come back and say that they were only briefly concerned! Bring some wins, bring back some TC sanity.... I'm getting pretty sad of reading so many negative opinions on here....
